You bet they can. There are a lot of kids going to public schools for FREE. Tuition assistance can not be over 50% for Private School students.

Again, the bottom line is the public schools, not the private schools. Open Enrollment should be state wide, if I'm not happy with the education a school is providing my child, I should be able to take my student and move to another school freely. Closed boundaries are a schools way of making students go to their school no matter the circumstances, if a school is proud of their product students/parents will fight to keep their students at that school.

Are you sure? A school can select what/which out-of-district students it takes. And, I know several schools that freely dismiss students who underachieve, if they live out of district.

This does not answer the question asked. A kid that lives in a district is not a tuition student.

In Jefferson County, it's free breakfast as well as lunch-----may be true statewide, I don't know.

And, there is no rule that says a school has to charge tuition to out of district students.

I believe if you qualify for free lunch, you are also qualified for free breakfast, state wide.

That's up to the school. But in my area; Greenup County, Boyd County, Carter County, Lawrence County and Elliott County; a student's ADA money follows them to what ever school they attend. That is the way it should be state wide - Open enrollment with ADA following the student. Hold the school accountable for retaining their students.

Kids deserve the opportunity to play for titles on a level playing field. I believe that opportunity would help retention at a lot of the 6A schools. In some states, for example PA, private and public schools play for separate titles.

 

Pretty sure that's not the case in PA.
