March 9, 201511 yr SAE should never be allowed on that campus ever again. Similarly, if those students aren't kicked out of school, they shouldn't be allowed to join another fraternity. Again while I think they are idiots, and undesirables...at a public university they have just as much rights as you or I Deuce. One can not claim to be a equal rights advocate and civil rights supportor by stripping someone of theirs for their actions even though distasteful can they???????????
March 9, 201511 yr I think this is where the civil rights movement has lost its path, its all about punishment, revenge, and make people pay nowadays.....So far from Doctor Kings beliefs, and teaching. And with that it has lost its steam with those who are unaffected....

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with you, but I bet after about 5 years and definitely within 10, SAE will attempt to go back to the campus. Depends on how strong their alumni base is and if they have any key alumni (which I'm sure they do). Also depends on if the Administration had any turnover in the meantime.
March 9, 201511 yr I am a proud member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and these actions are not representative of the organization as a whole. We have members of various nationalities and race in my chapter at Morehead State. I am personally disgusted and sickened by the actions of these idiots at Oklahoma and I'm celebrating the fact that they are no longer members of my fraternity.

Again, colleges, especially a large State University, have codes of conduct. It's probably a pretty fair guess, that racism/racial comments/racial discrimination is addressed in that code of conduct, as well as the penalties associated with violating those rules. IF it is addressed in the code of conduct, then there shouldn't be any issues with giving them the boot.

Kicked out of school? I'd say that's a bit harsh. I agree with the banning from joining another fraternity, though.
March 9, 201511 yr Kicked out of school? I'd say that's a bit harsh. Agree to disagree. I think it should at least be considered.
March 9, 201511 yr I'd be happy if they just plastered the kids' names and faces everywhere in the U.S. and out them for the racist dirtbags they are. Go to school all you want but good luck getting a job when you get out.
March 9, 201511 yr Agree to disagree. I think it should at least be considered. I think the kids will likely withdraw from school.
March 9, 201511 yr Going to college is a privilege not a right. I'm sure there are some colleges that will accept them all with open arms. People have been kicked out of colleges for doing less. I say kick them out.
March 9, 201511 yr Author OU had a commitment for football from a 4* lineman. Kid had been wavering lately. This incident apparently put him over the edge and he de-committed. Of course , he's now considering the bastion of acceptance U of Alabama.

I say kick them out. This is a very blatant case of racism with film and everything. Seems pretty cut and dry. But my problem lies with what happens when it becomes less blatant or the evidence isn't as firm? Is this really something public universities should get in the habit of doing --- kicking people out for what they said?

March 9, 201511 yr I think the kids will likely withdraw from school. Yea... probably a good idea to lay low awhile. If I were one of them, I don't think I'd be anxious about going to class, and that's just if I were in the fraternity and wasn't even there. Just one of those things that's going to be volatile awhile.
