Yeah, I can tell you from experience of working for a Fraternity's Headquarters, they certainly won't hesitate to shut down a chapter in order to save "the brand" as best they can when its even remotely justified they do so. Don't do dumb stuff and definitely don't video tape dumb stuff.

They are free to say whatever racist things they want without legal consequences. Freedom of Speech doesn't mean you can say whatever you want without consequence of those actions though.

It certainly is the proverbial "slippery slope." What if I use derogatory language against gays? What if I throw out the c-word against females? Are those "hostile?"

Most universities have codes of conduct. By enrolling in the university, you're agreeing to abide by the code of conduct. If you violate that code, you can be held responsible. They 100% have the freedom to say it. The university 100% also has the right to punish them for saying it.

There will be no chance of legal ramifications against them. Does OU have a code of conduct? If so, and I'm 100% sure they do as every university does, and they violated it, they're gone.

That doesn't mean they stand up in court especially when the rules are aimed at speech. I just don't it's nearly as clear as you do.

But you defend a company that fires someone for saying things that reflect poorly on the company? How is this different?
