January 12, 201511 yr Doesn't surprise me one bit that Gottlieb would say this and he's certainly entitled too but he's pretty predictable imo.
January 12, 201511 yr Based upon the past couple weeks (1 week of which UK did not play), I think he has a point. It is not outlandish.

January 12, 201511 yr Gottlieb is an idiot... :idunno: I agree. I actually think he can be a good analyst, but he does spend a lot of time saying things just to get attention. It makes it hard to determine whether he genuinely believes this or whether he's just trying to get a rise out of UK fans. This opinion about Virginia would have a lot more credibility if it came from Jay Bilas. I'm with bug in thinking this isn't an outlandish thought. There are only two teams that are undefeated. It makes perfectly good sense that some could see one team as being better than the other. I still believe UK & Duke are the two most talented teams, but the separation between them and the rest of the country isn't as wide as we once believed.
January 12, 201511 yr Gotlieb just has a case of Butt Hurt because the Cats destroyed his Kansas Jayhawks by 32 points.
January 12, 201511 yr Gotlieb just has a case of Butt Hurt because the Cats destroyed his Kansas Jayhawks by 32 points. Doug Gottlieb played for Oklahoma State. Or am I missing your point? :idunno:
January 12, 201511 yr Virginia's body of work is no where near as impressive as UKs. I wouldn't say "nowhere near" but UK's is certainly a step ahead. A couple of UK's opponents not actually being all that good didn't help. UCLA and Texas spring to mind. But there's no taking away that beatdown of KU and a road win at Louisville. Those two games alone put the Cats a clear step ahead.
January 12, 201511 yr Going by the standpoint of road wins > neutral site wins, he's got a thin case, I guess.
January 12, 201511 yr Let them rank Virginia #1. What does it matter? Rankings in January are pointless anyways.
January 12, 201511 yr I'm a life long Virginia fan and I have no problem with Kentucky #1 until they lose. Like others have said, it's decided on the court and really doesn't mean anything right now. With that said, I don't believe Virginia has been ranked #1 at any point in the season since the Sampson days nearly 35 years ago. You guys want a stat that will really make you laugh. During the Virginia/Miami game, ESPN put up a stat saying Virginia players "average length" is longer than Kentucky. Even Virginia fans had a good laugh over that one. :lol2:
