Just a few observations here. The officiating left a lot to be desired, not just a few missed calls but come on man. 49 fouls called and 65 free throws attempted is a little much! As for the game itself right now the Harrisons look totally out of sync, 9 for 47 from the field today including 3 for 17 from 3. Take away the OT the other night and Willie has done nothing the last 2 games. Dakari Johnson right now looks like a shell of his earlier self. He isn't playing like a big man at all. This team with their length should NOT be getting out rebounded by smaller teams and we know most of the teams they are playing are much smaller. I know Cal uses the Christmas break to work on his defense and refine the offense but right now both look good only in stretches. Is Cal over practicing these guys? I think 7:00 am on game day is a little much unless it was just a walk through but that's just mo. They did look a little sluggish and I though the other night and today they were getting out hustled for 50/50 balls. If they continue to shoot poorly and get out hustled they could struggle to win all their games and I'm not so sure that a couple of losses would be bad for them. Maybe they can't handle all the pressure of remaining undefeated.

If this was college football, I might agree. In basketball, Wins and Losses are much less important than improvement. Cal knows that and with the mandated SEC schedule, he scheduled tough in NOV & DEC to do just that. SEC will end up being better than many think, but it is not stiff competition. Some of UK's toughtest upcoming games will be practices / intrasquad scrimmages.

 

Both are great teams and have a chance to make noise in March. Looking forward to it.

I missed most of this game (saw both OT's) due to being at hospital with my wife. Thanks Randy for posting score and time in the game thread it really helped me keep up when I was able to check.

Once again I'm amazed at how the Harrison's play is the focal point. Andrew had 5 assists and 1 turnover. Yes they shot it poorly but Aaron had 3 big steals that he converted to points. Yes they shot 20% combined but the team shot 28% so they were not alone. For the record Ulis and Dakari combined to shoot 20% also.

A&M's shirt was all you need to know "heart over hype". It is every opponents Super Bowl. And the Cats will take some teams for granted. It's human nature. I think as the season goes on and the streak and chance to go undefeated gets closer, they will start concentrating more on putting teams away. Right now, it's not quite there yet.

Let's see UK shot 28% but when ulis was in they made shots? Really? UK had 1 fg in the first ot and Ulis was in a lot. Keep blaming the twins if it makes you feel better and last year their d was highly scrutinized, it often remarked how much they improved defensively. Yes they shot it poorly hard to argue but until the 2 OT Ulis did zip

I was hoping Hawkins would get into the game and bring some energy, at least he would try and get some of those long rebounds and loose balls that some of the players seem to have no interest in trying to get.:irked:

That would be Cal admitting that some of these guys are not draft picks and he cannot do that......hurting their draft stock would be a death blow to his recruiting.

Does anyone really care if they lose a game or two now? I'll admit a 40-0 season would be great but I'd be just as happy with a title with or without an undefeated record.

 

But two games in a row they have played poorly and still won. I guess SEC teams have more heart and fight than UNC, UCLA and Kansas did. I do think this team plays to their competition somewhat and that needs to stop. 2012 team only played down to their competition a couple of games, most notably @Tennessee.

There were several times today that they had Booker wide open for a shot and would look straight at him and reverse the ball to the other side. If I've got a kid who's been as hot as Booker I want him to take as many open shots as possible.

 

I hope they snap out of it because they did a good job toward the end of last season and in the post season, but as of right now the Harrison's aren't getting the other players as involved as they should.
