January 11, 201511 yr Question for the UK fans: Regardless of the source of the frustration or the debate over how to fix it, is anyone else happy for the turn of events with this team? I like that the games are now competitive, even though they aren't playing as well as they were earlier in the season. Speaking strictly from a selfish perspective, this is much more entertaining than a 30 point blow out. I have had my emotions stirred more in the last two games than in the previous 12 combined. I agree that these past few games have been more entertaining. However, the most important thing about these games has been the learning experience for this team. In 30 point blowouts, you don't learn much about your team in a sense, or how to handle playing under pressure. IMO, these cats have learned more in these last two games than they have all season. I would much rather them head into the tournaments with some hard fought games under their belt, than a bunch of blowouts.

I understand that I'm often in the minority, but I've always said I enjoy the blowouts more. Blowouts are fun, especially if they're against strong teams. I loved the Kansas game. LOVED it. I thankfully didn't see the Ole Miss game except for OT (I was filming a HS game), but this one just made me angry because of how poorly they played. I think I would have found the Ole Miss game more enjoyable because that sounded more like two teams playing at a good level. When two teams play poorly in the same game it is competitive but that doesn't make it good and it didn't make it enjoyable. I'd much rather watch a close, competitive game that involves two other teams, not the one I'm pulling for.
January 11, 201511 yr How many other teams have 2 starting 5's that both would be top 10 teams? The answer is 1. So on most teams Willis and Hawkins would be 6th and 7th best if not starters. This post just makes it seem even more silly to me that anyone would expect the 11th best player(s) to get playing PT over those two top 10 teams.

How many other teams in the NCAA play their 11th best player on a regular basis? I'm not complaining, I'm simply telling you why kids from Kentucky under 4* are not going to play.

How far is the gap between 10 and 11 between say 6/7? Sometimes you need a spark, someone who leaves ego behind and gives your team something. Basketball coaches and fans get way to caught up in how many stars guys have beside their name.....believe it or not some kids are flat overrated and some are underrated.

I completely agree with you, which is why I don't think Willis should sniff the floor. In my opinion he's very overrated in many people's eyes. I feel like he's a defensive liability and a turnover waiting to happen. Hawkins I do like. In the end, I trust that the guy making $4 million plus, and his top assistants know what they're doing.

In games where some of those top 2 teams players are struggling you can make some us situations to try and light a spark.

January 12, 201511 yr I think these games are good for UK and in particular Calipari. I think what is going unmentioned is that UK shot 28% on the road and won.

Hawkins needs to play more, such as last Saturday. He brings an energy, hustle and toughness that is sorely needed at times. Willis could be a very good player, probably needs to transfer because I don't see him ever getting extended minutes with the talent that is in front of him.
