October 20, 201411 yr I think it has some colorful language in it so I was afraid to post it. Search YouTube for this and I'll let you decide if it can be posted or not: Notre Dame vs. FSU - Oct. 10th, 2014 - The False Victory Gotcha. I'll check it out myself. :thumb:
October 20, 201411 yr The crying from the ND crowd is LOUD -- I though they got the call right . And I actually was pulling for ND
October 20, 201411 yr Author The crying from the ND crowd is LOUD -- I though they got the call right . And I actually was pulling for ND I said it earlier in the thread, but the fact that Lou Holtz agreed with it is about all I need. A bigger ND homer does not exist.
October 20, 201411 yr I was one of them, and I haven't rooted for Notre Dame in a football game in my life. I became anti-Notre Dame a long time ago, back in 1966 when I felt they had a media bias in their vote at the end of the season as National Champs. Michigan State had tied them in a game earlier in the season at 10-10. Both teams were 10-0-1. And I believe Alabama might have been undefeated that year. If I'm not mistaken, n those days Notre Dame didn't play in Bowl games, so the media handed them the national title on the merits of their season. That's been a long time, 48 years, and I was just age 12 at the time. But it turned me against the Irish from that moment on in any sport. But on Saturday I held my nose and "slightly" pulled for Notre Dame. 9-0-1. And you are right, Notre Dame didn't go "bowling" then. They didn't go to bowls in the modern era until after the '69 season when they went to the Cotton Bowl and lost to #1 Texas in a classic. FWIW, Michigan State (defending National Champs) would have been #1 but their season ended with that tie. (Back then the Big 10 Champion could not go to consecutive Rose Bowls. An entirely different world then.) Notre Dame went to LA the next week and hammered USC by 50. They had the chance to impress the voters one more time and it worked.
October 21, 201411 yr Herbsteit said it best for me: ND has made huge strides in two years. Impressed with ND, especially Golson and Robinson in this game. FSU is certainly getting everyone's best shot but not the same team as last year in the trenches--which is odd on O because they returned 4 of 5. Neither team can afford another loss and expect to be in the final 4. As far as the call: 1. Golson handled it with much more class than his coach 2. Had ND not run the same play in the first half, it wouldn't have given Jimbo a chance to get in the official's ear about it--which likely helped draw the call at the end 3. Had ND run the play the same way as they did in the first half, then they would not have been called for it
October 21, 201411 yr So I didn't even realize this. But ACC officals have now admitted they did blow a call on the last play. Not the offensive PI, but after the play when everyone thought the game was over an FSU defender took his helmet off on the field. Apparently the ND sideline was screaming for it to be called. If it was called properly ND would of had the ball 1st and Goal inside the 10 yard line. Again I didn't even realized this happened but ACC officals have admitted the mistake now.
October 21, 201411 yr I still do not know how good either of these teams are. It was an awesome game, but both have looked dreadful at times this season. It is why I am not jumping to the conclusion that simply because ND played FSU close they are some how an elite caliber team.
October 21, 201411 yr Since Brian Kelly doesn't teach or run illegal plays, I think a funny hash tag would be: #otherstuffBrianKellydoesntteach The responses would range from funny to brutal.

October 21, 201411 yr Folks want to see FSU lose at record numbers. Same way with Alabama. I feel your pain. RTR

I feel like Notre Dame has looked pretty good all season with the exception of the North Carolina games. I have no idea how that game turned out as it did.
