October 19, 201412 yr Author Notre Dame impressed the hell out of me. Neither of these teams is probably as good as their rank, but still, I never thought it would come down to the end. Though of course, I'm also a bit of the opinion that it never should have. Not even the 4th and 18 although FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T LET THEM PICK THAT UP. Jimbo turtled up on the last FSU possession. Instead of recognizing that they really weren't stopped except for a drive they stopped themselves up to that point, he got all conservative and tried to predictably run the clock out when there were still five minutes left in the game. Notre Dame teed off on the run when FSU had been passing all over them the entire half. Play to win, never play not to lose. And it almost cost them. I'm sure people who will cry about the offensive PI will say it should've cost them.
October 19, 201412 yr Big time call by the refs at the end of the game. One call changes it from a ND victory to a ND loss. It was probably the right call but took a lot to call it there.
October 19, 201412 yr Great game. Thought Notre Dame was destined to win after that incredible 4th & 18 conversion.
October 19, 201412 yr Right call. #20 screwed up. Just needed to brush him and it is a TD. Jameis is not my kind of kid but he sure can play.
October 19, 201412 yr That penalty is literally never called. It's so rarely called if they didn't call it no one would of questioned it. Great game . Just hate it ended like it did.

I don't know about in college, but I've seen it called on multiple occasions in the NFL this year, though most of the time it's more in the pick play variety.

If you want to be technical rewind the play to the start. The DB jams the WR at the line and grabs with two hands before WR takes a step forward. I could easily make the argument WR was trying to get free.
