The Milkshakes thread got me thinking about this one. I'm definitely a hand dipped ice cream guy.

This is really tough, because I really like both a lot. But if you are making me choose, it will be hand-dipped. I grew up chasing the Mr. Softee truck in my neighborhood in Louisville. That's what made it tough to choose. Man, I miss those.

soft serve for sure.

Soft-serve! I love the stuff!

soft serve for sure.

Soft serve vanilla, chocolate dipped. Boom!

I don't prefer one over the other.

Same. Like choosing lobster over crab legs -- just say yes and enjoy.

Hand dipped. But would just assume have gelato.

I still see Mr. Softee trucks here and there rolling around in Covington and Newport. Yep... I too was a Mr. Softee chaser.

I love all ice cream, soft and hand-dipped, so no way I can choose.

Good Soft Serve Chocolate is hard to beat IMO. Trouble is finding good flavored soft serve, most is kinda tasteless.

Hand dipped overall is better, but not as good as the best soft serve...IMO.

Dairy Queen soft serve vanilla. Nothing better.

Hand dipped, and it isn't close.

Hand dipped and it is not close to me. I will eat soft serve but prefer hand dipped.

Mr. Softee and the soft serve from a Dairy Queen or a Dari-bar type place is one of the best things of Summer.

I am with Bengal Maniac. Very tough choice but if I had to, I would go with hand dipped.
