Famous Jameis...again!

Jameis seems to be very close to being shut down for good. Anything else and I think he'll be done.

If released from team then what do the Heisman people do?

Can they retract their award? Sponsors reaction?

I am not a fan of the 1 year Heisman wonders. Both are not good long term faces of the award.

This guy is clearly out of control. I'd kick him out of school.

I would have suspended him from the next game for that stunt. This time he wouldn't have been allowed in the stadium.

Much ado about nothing re. the uniform, and this coming from from someone who thinks that Winston is a tool.

If someone stuck a uni in my locker, I'd put it on.

But we all need to remember, he's not a "me" person.

After hearing Cris Carter on Mike & Mike this morning, I have to disagree. When I saw the highlight of him coming out in uniform, I had a different reaction, but after hearing Carter, I softened some.

Basically, he was saying that from the time you are at some high schools, but especially in college and the pros, that you have all of your things laid out in a locker for you when you arrive at the stadium by team equipment managers. He said it went as far as, if you were hurt or suspended, you'd have your jersey and whatever pants or team issued gear they wanted you in laid out for you. It's not something that's really very much of a choice I'd imagine.

If Winston hadn't had his locker set up or had been directly told not to dress out and warm up, then I'd imagine he would have been in way more trouble than he was (i.e., if he'd have taken it from an equipment manager when he wasn't supposed to have it and had been told not to).

Cris Carter isn't really a guy who pulls tons of punches and usually says what's on his mind. He's not the first guy I think of when it comes to hearing guys taking up for players, so to hear him put it like he did carried some weight with me.

It was confirmed by the coach that the uniform and pads were laid out when it was a half game suspension and never changed once the suspension became a full game. Once on the field dressed he was told to go in and take the pads off and he did so.

Let's all forget the fact that he is a 20 year old KID....

If this KID was not a big time athlete would this even be offered as an excuse? The fact that it is is a huge part of the problem with sports at all levels. If you're a great player there is a percentage of the public that's willing to over look personal shortcomings.

When I was 20 I was stupid, no question about that. When my stupidity got me in trouble I faced the consequences. Winston has had excuses made for him.

FWIW I heard several commentators rake Jimbo Fisher over the coals (and rightly so as far as I'm concerned) for his handling of Wilson.

He should never have been allowed on the sidelines of the Clemson game.

I still don't see what difference it makes if he is on the sidelines for a game he didn't play in. His suspension was served. Now time to see if he can manage to not get kicked off the team.

anybody else happen to see the release from TMZ in regard to the rape accusations?? She tried to extort Jameis and get $7 million!!!! It still doesnt make up for the other idiotic things done aside from this one

So his play on the field didn't deserve the Heisman last year? I get you have to save face, but are you going to leave the award void or give it to someone that didn't have the season Jameis did?

I get the kids screwed up, but other than the rape accusations he hasn't really acted any different than a lot of young college kids. I mean I really did some stupid stuff back in my day. The kid can act a fool obviously, but his talent on the field speaks for itself. Not many of these "one year heisman wonders" have led their team to a championship the way he did.

Bottom line is his teammates love the guy and he goes to battle for them. When it counts he shows up but off the field he's did some foolish things. Foolish enough to lose a Heisman? Not sure about that.
