September 8, 201412 yr Im surprised or I guess I shouldnt be surprised on the dalton shots in the update thread. I honestly thought I would see people being happy with him Besides the one third down throw when he locked on one receiver and sanu wasopen. Peolple said they wanted him to be a game manager and protect the ball and hit the big play when its there. He did just that today. Didnt force the ball and hit the big play on a great deep ball to green right after the ravens got the lead.In the past dalton misses that throw in crunch time. I been critical of him to but overall solid play today and didnt make stupid plays like flacco did afew times today. To be fair, I was at the airport and only watched when he sucked those first several possesions and couldn't score I side the redzone except for FG's and his bad passes that almost got AJ killed and the throw to Gresham when Gio was wide open etc. the rest of the game I was in the air or at my layover and couldn't watch.

Thats understandable. But see I didnt even think he looked that bad early. He was just the qb people wanted him to be which was a game manager and didnt force anything and took the points. So he didnt do anything special but was efficient The onlything I question was some of the play calling inside the ten like the qb draw.

He really made good decisions all day even early, I thought. He really never put the ball in harm's way. If he does that he will be fine. He made some great throws, to Green on the TD and a couple of others one to Gio on a pass to the flat where he didn't have to break stride and the same with Sanu. He seemed to get the correct line calls with the blitzes, but he has always been pretty good at recognizing those things. I am not ready to place him any higher than 10-15 range, but this is what we need from him. He threw a couple away which is good also. I am not sure the red zone was all him or the play calling.
September 8, 201412 yr Had the Bengals taken Hyde they would have scary upside. Very good road win! What exactly do you think hyde would have brought to the team that jeremy hill does not? Hyde is a very good runningback but the bengals I believe got another very good back in hill that adds more to this offense than hyde and compliments gio better imo.
September 8, 201412 yr I will say it again - offensive line is where I need to see more out of this team. All the problems we talk about on offense start right there. From what I saw, Bodine struggled a little in this one. To be expected from a rookie in his first game, but still ... it impacts getting a W or L.

He looked solid today outside of a holding penalty.

September 8, 201412 yr If dink and dunk gets us a playoff win or two....."I'M ALL FOR IT." After Eiffert was hurt I'm surprised they didn't utilize Hill more to eat clock and pound the ball. The read option inside the 10 will get AD killed if that continues. That's should be Hills territory out of a power set. Really, really, really hope Burfict can return sooner rather later. The Ravens moved the ball at will in his absence until the d line made some nice stops with good pressure and sacks. A big salute to the dline for stepping up when they did. :thumb: A road win in the NFL is an extremely tough task and to do so against a division rival is fantastic. This was a great win and way to start the season. Go Bengals!!! Prayers for a quick recovery for all those injured...
September 8, 201412 yr I thought Dalton played really well. He won't finish the season though if they keep running read option with him.
