  1. The QB from Cooper is a very good player from the few games I saw him play and has a bright future. From what I heard though the Cooper QB got hurt in their last game against Campbell County and will not be playing this game.
  2. That's a nice compliment for Barker then. Let's not forget Tom Brady kept losing his qb job in college to Drew Henson because of not looking great in college and I think Brady turned out ok. No I don't think Barker will be Brady, but that is silly to make a judgement based off of what ten plays.
  3. It's all about how teams matchup, and I think Ryle matches up well with Simon Kenton. I expect a higher scoring game with Ryle winning 31 to 28.
  4. I remember reading in a thread earlier this year in a NCC freshman thread that a person wasnt happy in a game that was only 26 to 0. So this looks bad but From looking at the box score it seemed like Beechwood did all their work in the first half and there is nothing wrong with that imo. They are just a very good football team.
  5. Interesting. So you are saying if it Ryle doesn't have the turnovers they win? However you don't take into account that you can say the same about Cooper. Couldn't be said if Cooper doesn't give up a few big kick returns that set up Ryle scores, or if they blocked better to prevent their field goal from being blocked, or if they didn't throw an interception, or if their starting RB doesn't get hurt in the first quarter then Cooper wins by a bigger score? So seems to me both teams had things happen in that game that they would love to have back, but you seem to act like only one team had things go wrong. Both teams had things go wrong, but Cooper ended up making more plays to make up for it. It was two good teams that played last week. Just like this game will be two good teams that play this week in Ryle and Conner. Its high school football both teams will make mistakes, but it is about limiting them and then also making plays of their own when opportunities present themselves. Whoever does that will win this week, just like how it happened last week.
  6. If I calculated things right the Ryle and Conner game basically means nothing unless Ryle loses then they automatically are the three seed. If they beat Conner they could be at best the two or even three seed still. It all comes down to the Cooper Conner game for the final standings. If Cooper wins they are the one seed. However even if Conner loses to Ryle they would still be the one seed if they beat Cooper. Conner in a tiebreaker scenario with three teams would get the one seed because of wins over Lloyd and Scott who have alot of wins and if the beat Cooper that would be another team with alot of wins they beat. So in a tiebreaker scenario Conner will win the one seed. Which is why the Cooper Conner game will be for the one seed no matter how the Conner Ryle game goes. Ryle would need to beat both Conner and Simon Kenton to maybe pass Cooper for the 2 seed in a three way tie situation. The quick answer is the Conner and Cooper game will determine the one seed in the district. So that should be another great exciting game.
  7. Its very simple. Cooper and Ryle honestly play many of the same teams. However the reason why people are talking about the schedule right now is, because currently Cooper is the best team Ryle has played so far this year. So while Ryle is 6 and 0 and Cooper is 4 and 2. Cooper is the best team Ryle has seen so far. While Cooper does have two losses, but a case could be made that both of those teams they lost to could be better than Ryle or at worst equal to Ryle. Meaning Cooper even though they have lost, have seen two other really good teams that are equal to or better than Ryle, while this is Ryle's toughest game they have played so far. I personally don't think the records mean anything or strength of schedule so far means anything when these two teams play this week. Ryle being 6 and 0 doesn't mean they will win, and Cooper playing a tougher schedule so far doesn't mean they will win. It is two good football teams playing night, and it could go either way.
  8. I attended that game last year and the better team won last year plain and simple. Ryle didn't show anything to make it look like they would win even if England played more than the 15 snaps he played. Cooper that game had the majority of their starters also making their first varsity start ever and still won. Now this year is a new year, and Ryle added a top notch QB to their team. So this should be a good game to watch. No matter what fans of both sides should avoid saying to much after this game, because these two teams very easily see each other again in the playoffs and that game the loser's season would be over. I will try to attend this game, because it should be a good one. It's nice having two very good schools in the same area.
  9. I attended this game and heard the same thing. It is a shame to hear that there are talented players that decided not to play. However if they don't want to be a part of a team, then a team can't worry about them and no reason to talk about them. From listening to people in the stands, tonight's result was better than a scrimmage these two teams apparently had in 8th grade last year even with those players who chose not to play. So sounds like the young jags will be fine with the young men who decided to play. This was a fun game to watch and both teams played hard. It was also a game of neither team being able to finish off drives. Cooper had the ball inside Ryle's 30 four times and came up short. Ryle had the ball in the red zone a few other times and only got one touchdown to show for it. Good defense by both teams to make drives stall. I am not sure who Cooper plays next. However I believe Ryle will be playing Highlands and CovCath soon. I definitely will try to make it out for those games, they should be good ones.
  10. Final from yesterday's freshman game. Cooper is now I believe 2 and 3 and Boone County I believe is 2 and 2.
  11. You would have thought one would have had learn their lesson last year, about making comments in a Cooper Scrimmage. Seemed like the best players in the stands comments at last years Dixie/Cooper scrimmage really seemed to back fire on you, considering the result of both Dixie/SK games. So maybe should let the games play out before commenting to much.
  12. Definitely easier. The ultimate goal is to win a State Championship, and with that being the goal the path to win a State Championship is definitely easier. It seems if someone is to suggest otherwise is just trying to calm the talk on Beechwood being the heavy favorite to win it all now.
  13. I think Middle School football is a good thing. The only thing I don't like is how schools that don't have a middle school, or even a junior high are able to have a middle school team. In my mind it is almost like recruiting, because you can get kids in your program early from other areas then, learn the system and build friendships with other teammates and so it much more likely that player would want to definitely stay then at that school for high school.
  14. At the end of the road it is harder to win the 6A Championship because you have a team like Trinity who is usually the best in the State each year. However the way it is currently set up in 6A. It is easier to get to the State Semi's and Championship than it probably would be in 5A. So which one is better for programs trying to grow? 5A where you see probably have to beat 2 out of the top 5 teams in the State in the first 3 rounds just to get to the Semi's? Or 6A where you probably don't see any of the top 4 teams until at least the Semi's? Yes once you get to the Semi's even State Title game the team you ultimately have to beat to win it, is harder than any team in 5A. However for programs trying to get to continue to build a program to a top level, it would look better and keep the school, players, and future players more excited and believing in the program when you are making deeper runs in playoffs. It could happen in 5A to, just the path in 5A is its hardest at the beginning of the playoffs, and the path in 6A is its hardest at the end. So as I mentioned in the post before, I am sure that is one of the things that was considered to go along with being in the same class as the other Boone schools, and to save money on travel.
  15. I would say a lot of things probably were involved in it. A chance to have all the Boone Schools in the same class, less travel to save money, even though it would be harder to win and not a better chance to win the State Championship, but would be easier path to the State Championship in most years which keeps interest higher and keeps program growing. So I would assume it was not just one of the three things I listed for why both schools moved to 6A, but probably a combination of the three.
  16. Great point. Which begs to question once again why is the same thing not being asked to CovCath and Highlands? Why move up to 5A when 4A would be easier to win. Especially CovCath who I believe even with their increasing enrollment would have been able to stay in 4A if they had wanted to. I'm just curious why these two teams get questioned for moving up, when all the same arguments could be made for why did Highlands and CovCath move up?
  17. To get use to playing better competition to better the program, much like Highlands and CovCath chose to do. Obviously Highlands and CovCath's enrollment wouldn't have put them in 5A, so why did they move up? Because it is assumed apparently that if you move up, it is better competition and helps make your program better correct?
  18. It's a valid question is it not? Why did CovCath and Highlands move up? I would assume most would say for better competition. Even though CovCath hasn't done anything in 4A, and other teams in 4A have shown that they are now catching up with Highlands, so why move up? Why can't it be the same for Cooper and Conner. Cooper for example has had a lot of success in 5A recently, and I believe I have heard that their football numbers last year and going into this year has been about 70 to 80 players just in grades 10-12 and not including Freshman. So that's over 100 players in their program now. Also I believe they are returning their whole team from last year. So why not move up to where there is better overall competition State Wide to continue to grow the program by playing better state Competition and still playing the likes of Highlands in non conference?
  19. Didn't Cooper blow out NCC last year? Isn't Cooper basically returning their whole team? So UKfan what changed from last years blow out to make you think the same team for Cooper now will lose? Same with Fearthenation who thinks it will be a grinder? It is a tough schedule and NCC always plays hard, but that was one of the 4 games of Cooper I saw last year and there really wasn't much doubt in that one.
  20. Why did Highlands and CovCath move up? For better competition? I know CovCath's numbers have gone up, but when they made the realignment wouldn't CovCath had still been barely 4A if they didn't request to move up? Why would CovCath move up since they never get passed Highlands? Or did CovCath move up for better competition overall? Which then couldn't you say maybe Cooper and Conner then moved up as well for better competition overall at a State Level? Why is it people are blasting Cooper and Conner for moving up for overall better competition, but not Highlands and CovCath? Highlands lost their title game two years ago and had to have a huge comeback to win it last year. So it seems 4A had stopped being a cake walk for them, so why move up?
  21. I was at the Ryle/Cooper game last year, and I am sorry Ryle fans but what is some of this stuff you all are coming up with? I now seen people say England didn't play, and other say he only played one play? Huh? I know there was a lot of talk last year saying Ryle would win easily, however making excuses that is not true is silly. It was two good teams, and Cooper was the better team that day. Granted England didn't play as much as he would later in the year. However he played more than what people are saying. He played at least 14 plays and Ryle probably only ran less than 40 plays total because of a lot of three and outs. Also he did come back in after his fumble on the next series, which was the last time they had the ball. So not sure what you all are talking about on that. The coaching staff early in the year was just trying to pass the ball more, once they seen that didn't work they adjusted later in the year and used him more. I got to see Ryle and Cooper in person 3 times last year and loved seeing the improvement in both teams through the year. I am going to try to make sure my schedule is free so I can see the game again this year. It should be a good close low scoring game, and come down to who makes the least mistakes.
  22. You're right that one penalty didnt cost them the game anymore in the game than other big plays that happened but that penalty did have an impact. Since you want to use sarcastic comments like saying you know nothing about football. Then I am sure you then know how big of a thing momentum is in a game. At that point in the game Cooper had just scored and down only 12 to 7 and had Pulaski third and long. All the momentum had shifted to Cooper which is even more important to keep that momentum when you are on the road. So while that play was not any bigger than some other mistakes Cooper had, it still also was a big play in the game.
  23. As for the game I was very impressed by the qb and team speed of Pulaski. The final score doesn't show how close this game was. Cooper was a drop pass away from making the final 8 minutes very dramatic. Give Pulaski credit though because they closed the door on Cooper after that with a long TD run to seal the victory.
