  1. I attended this game last night to see this new big CovCath freshman class, and I got to see a very good game. Cooper was winning 8 to 7 at halftime, but then CovCath came out in the second half and tacked on touchdowns to go up 19 to 8. Cooper drove down 80 yards in the last 2 minutes to make it 19 to 16 and had an onside kick with 40 seconds to go that CovCath recovered.
  2. Simon wins but in a closer game than people think. Simon Kenton 35 NCC 20
  3. Its easy to say the Votto deal was over the top now that he hasn't been healthy since. However at the time it looked like they locked up one of the top hitters in baseball for a long time. The Bailey deal was the one that shouldn't have been done.
  4. I decided to attend this game with a good friend of mine who has a son who plays for Boone. So I got to see the same game that you did. I understand that you are being supportive of your son, but how does bashing another high school player help support your son? You may think you are trying to support your son, but at the same time you are bashing a high schooler saying how the other player shouldn't have won the job. Talking up your son is one thing, but having to put down another high schooler to do that is wrong and there is no respect with that. Your evaluation of the game is also very bias. I am very happy that my friends son team won, however Conner's offense with the guy they had at QB moved the ball very well. In fact two of their drives had fumbles after they drove it all the way down to the 10 yard line. One came by #24 once he got do the four yard line, and the other came on a bad snap that Boone recovered. So they scored 26 points and had two drives that would have probably been TD's if not for the fumbles. The offense and the QB clearly was not the reason they lost this game. As others have said support your son and be there for him, but putting down other high school players is not the way to do that. Especially when your evaluation was very bias and was way off because the offense with that QB played very well and moved the ball.
  5. Thanks any info on some of these players names? I like knowing which players to keep an eye out on over the next few years.
  6. A friend of mine at NCC told me this freshman score from last night. Does anyone have any details from the game? Any players to look out for on either team in the next few years?
  7. Us Dixie fans have benefitted from those players leaving Ludlow. If those players and I believe another one who went to CovCath had stayed, then Ludlow would have had a really solid team and would compete in 1A with some top teams possibly. So for Ludlow's sake hopefully those players start to stay.
  8. I haven't seen either play to know who looks better. However it sounds like from post on here that the other QB has looked better. Not to mention with the other kid being a year younger, it only makes sense to go with the younger one if they two are about even in the competition.
  9. All that stuff you said is true for the people who are playing and want to play. All that stuff you said is untrue when it comes to if someone should play a sport or not. You don't play a sport for the good of a team. You play a sport because you want to play. Now if you do decide to play, then yes you do play for the man next to you because it is a team sport. However when it comes to choosing to play, only what that person feels matters.
  10. Its not a dramatic jump in competition when the move in 2A only realistically created 2 tougher games a year for them than what they were already playing in the 1A district.
  11. I am not sure how far back these threads go that people can pull up, but I feel like if you go back and look at the threads from the two decent seasons they had. That you will see exactly what I am talking about. I also think if you can find members on this board who were on here back then from the river schools of Bellevue, Ludlow, and Dayton they would say the same thing. Their fans got pretty high and mighty pretty fast with a little success that year. Most of those posters for brossart have disappeared since the move to 2A though and no longer on here. Mustang has been on here through all that, and he was one of the few Brossart faithful on here that didn't get like that. I also disagree with people on here saying they should do away with the program. There is potential still there to have a successful football program IMO.
  12. I have not been a member of this board long, but I have been reading on here for many years. I think one thing that quickslick is getting at is how arrogant fans of Brossart acted once they did have some success, and I even remember seeing that on here. I am not saying it was you, but there were a lot of other Brossart posters back then and they were very arrogant and acting like the program had already become better than traditional programs such as Bellevue, Dayton and Ludlow and even acted like they were better that what Walton was becoming. That did leave a bad taste for people on how quickly fans became arrogant and for no reason, when in reality they still haven't done well even in the past few years against those same 1A schools. I hope to see the Brossart program get on its feet because I too think it can be a good program eventually with the right coach and dedication in place. Can't give players or parents reasons why for failure, need to only be reasons why success can come.
  13. How has Highlands freshman teams been the last few seasons? Have they been as good as they had been in the past? That may help in determining if this is the year to beat Highlands compared to other years.
  14. Getting a bunt down is a lot easier than hitting a sac fly. On a squeeze usually as long as you get it down, the runner will be safe unless there is a great play made by the defense. So nothing wrong with going for the squeeze play with a guy on third in the last inning with only 1 out. However deciding to do it on the very first pitch should be questioned. Who was the batter for Cooper? Is he someone who usually does hit a lot of fly balls to the outfield? If so maybe he could have gave him at least until one strike to hit a sac fly before calling for the squeeze.
  15. Brandon Larson and if we had to pick a coach it would be Bob Boone. I could not stand either one of them.
  16. I hope your right about Meso. I know its been a small sample size, however he reminds me of some of the other Reds in the past who seemed to be very good prospects and ended up not doing much. It would be nice to see what he can do though with more consistent opportunities to play. I know I hope he does great!
  17. Would Travis Ford be a possibility depending on how the next couple of seasons go for him at Oklahoma State?
  18. You two are comical to watch on here. I will say this though while I share your frustration over all the many years that Mike Brown did everything possibly wrong with the franchise. You really might want to research what you say before you say things on here. From what I have seen you throw a lot of things out there that simply are not true, I believe even FC in his LONG POST has even pointed that out to you. You might want to go back and edit your post before he reads it because you posted some more false and made up things. Which really hurts any credibility you try to have in your arguments. You said the Ravens signed Boldin and Webb as free agents and that is simply not true. The Ravens traded for Boldin, and they drafted Webb. You would have been better off talking about Jones who was a free agent that helped them out. Other than that they built their super bowl team through free agency too.
  19. This is true. One thing I would like to see Coach Cal do is go back to playing Kyle Wiltcher like he did last year. Every time Florida went on a run today was when WCS was out, and Kyle was in.
  20. How about the great coaching move by Cal today to put WCS back in with 11 minutes to go even with 4 fouls. Most coaches would not take a chance to do that, but he knew Florida was on a run and the only hope UK had to still pull off the game was to put him in and hope he didn't get that 5th foul. It was a gutsy decision but a decision that definitely ended up being the right decision today.
  21. I just wanted to say I am excited to finally join bluegrasspreps. I look forward to reading and sometimes joining in on discussions in various threads.
