September 8, 201412 yr I thought Dalton played really well. He won't finish the season though if they keep running read option with him. That is what I don't understand the most, why are you running a read option with Dalton in the first place? It's not like he can run.

September 8, 201412 yr Really dumb. Will cost him games if not the season if they keep doing it. He got leveled one time in the backfield. No one can take those kinds of hits over a season. It was obvious the Ravens went after him on that one. I don't blame them. It didn't go well IMO
September 8, 201412 yr I thought Andy played with a lot of confidence today... A few mistakes on reads and maybe could have thrown to a better option a couple times, but overall not bad. If he plays like he did today all season, we will have some fun.
September 8, 201412 yr Some random thoughts: Dalton looked fine when the receivers were wide open, when things got tough Dalton wasn't as good. What was up with running Dalton early? Seriously! I don't think Gio is an every down back and Hue Jackson went to him too many times in a row at a critical point in the game. We lack serious depth at DT. After Atkins we are mediocre at best. And why the heck did we cut a DT (I realize we added a DB from the practice squad because of Dennard) but again why a DT? Especially since Still is on the practice squad. Before I didn't fault the Bengals for keeping Still on the practice squad but after cutting Bilukidi I just wonder what the Bengals are thinking. I guess we are adding Vickerson but our lack of depth at DT hurt us. Atkins went out and Peko was dead in the water. Thankfully Thompson stepped up. I hope Burfict isn't out long, he is our only NFL quality LB that can play the run and the pass. Maualuga is at the end, LB is a definite draft need for the Bengals moving forward. Did anyone see Taylor Mays stink it up on the long TD where Smith scored. Watch the replay, look at Mays angle of attack and his effort. Frankly, I would cut Mays. AJ Green made one of the plays of the game. Like I have said, we do NOT have a deep passing game, what we have is AJ Green using his superior athleticism to haul in Dalton's under thrown deep balls. Reggie Nelson stepped up on defense. Minus Burfict, Nelson is definitely the leader of the defense. Lots of negatives I know but at the end of the day we got a road victory against an AFC North team and that is gold!
September 8, 201412 yr What exactly do you think hyde would have brought to the team that jeremy hill does not? Hyde is a very good runningback but the bengals I believe got another very good back in hill that adds more to this offense than hyde and compliments gio better imo. Hill looks ok, a solid role player but if you watched the Dallas game at all, Hyde could be a star a true #1.
September 8, 201412 yr Hill looks ok, a solid role player but if you watched the Dallas game at all, Hyde could be a star a true #1. One was playing against a top five D and the other was playing against the worst D in NFL history...
September 8, 201412 yr Dalton did exactly what everyone has begged him to do the past 2 seasons. He managed the game, and did it exceptionally well. Not one time did he put the ball in a position to be picked, or try to force something that wasn't there. Yes, they could stand to improve the red-zone execution, but if this team scores 23 points every week, they'll have a 1st round bye in the playoffs. It's not like the Baltimore defense is a pushover or anything.

September 8, 201412 yr One was playing against a top five D and the other was playing against the worst D in NFL history... You and I can keep tally of the stats & at end of season and maybe do a friendly wager?
September 8, 201412 yr You and I can keep tally of the stats & at end of season and maybe do a friendly wager? If I thought both would get equal opportunities, I would. I like both a lot and think they are pretty equal in terms of ability. Guessing Hyde gets the ball a lot more as Gore shows his age, and the Bengals seem content running Gio between the tackles much more than they should. Both are going to have very strong careers. Plus I have Hyde in the BGP league so I'm not betting against him... :lol2:

He's almost in a position where if the D is healthy, if he doesn't turn it over and he takes a few chances to AJ deep they should win 10 games or so with a chance at 11 or 12.

Hopefully, it ends up being a wash. Nice pick in the league if Gore goes down, then again Hyde out scored him last night anyway.
September 8, 201412 yr I thought that the Bengals' offense showed a lot of the playbook for Week 1. That being said, there's no way you can paint a division win on the road as a bad thing.

It was a huge huge win for the Bengals. After week one we look like the definite favorite in the North but we have a lot to improve on.
