Hence, Northern KY Catholic. If you are Catholic or want to play sports for the largest Catholic HS in KY then you go to NKC.

 

Combination of CovCath, NewCath, Brossart and bring St Henry out of independence. They some athletes there now...WOW

I truly believe this is reality rather than just speculation, it is all about the money and the money just aint there anymore and it is time to start thinking outside of the box. :thumb:

 

The ole school family sentiment argument just is not cutting it anymore and certainly not paying the bills...It is a business and anyone that disagrees with this is foolish...

Just curious which Catholic schools is "killing it" on the ACT scores between the schools I mentioned. My guess in this order

 

1) St Henry

2) CovCath

Not sure who gets 3rd and 4th but my guess is it is NewCath and then Brossart since Brossart is the school with the shortfall of funds.

 

Unless of course they are investing all of their funds into academics first and athletics second which would or should make sense depending on what one is looking for in a catholic education and then I would say Brossart 3rd and NewCath 4th

 

I just know that I had a daughter go through a Catholic HS and the other siblings went through an Independent school district and Im sorry to say I cheated my daughter out of one of the best educations in the midwest imo.

Nothing against the school she attended and nothing but great people and great relationships but the education experience was no match. JMO

That has been a very strong academic school for as long as I can remember. Cov Cath has made good strides academically over the last 10 years. They are probably not too far behind Notre Dame.

 

As to the reason why kids attend Catholic schools, it's pretty obvious isn't it - the kids are Catholic.

The top two Catholic schools on the ACT are almost surely Covington Latin #1 and most Villa Madonna #2. Of the rest, my guess is the next highest ACT Catholic school is Notre Dame. I would be surprised if Villa is that high and I agree about NDA.

You got it. Then it is just a matter of which one is the best fit for the individual student.

See I wasn't even thinking about the 2 super dupper smart Catholic schools and of course the all girls freak show in Park Hills.

 

Leave those 3 alone and let em continue to grow and prosper but the time is now to merge all the others. JMO

 

To be a Catholic and or Christian and stand by and watch your neighbor struggle and fall is well, not very Christian like. God forbid the Campbell Cty Catholics and the Kenton Cty Catholics break bread together...

 

Why do you have to be rich or extremely smart to attend only the elite Catholic schools? Just doesnt make sense to me.

 

If the diocese said ok here is what we are going to do,

Take all of the Catholic schools in NKY and merge them and we will use Villa Madonna and Notre Dame's academic core to teach and learn from.

Eventually you are going to have a Catholic Super High School and oh yeah a Sports Superpower.

 

Again, why would parents of kids not being afforded these opportunities not like this idea?

That does not bode well. I would estimate they would need to have at least 25 show up to a meeting to even consider playing a full schedule 10 game schedule including 2A games. Even then it would be dicey if many of those were Frosh/Sophs.

 

I guess I don't understand the NKAC ramifications of being Independent......would seem that maybe playing some games against NKAC schools would be better than playing zero?

I believe if you aren't in for all sports you aren't in at all. Could hurt other sports from a scheduling standpoint.
