Correct, but I thought Bishop Foys changed things so that any student from any Catholic parish could go to any Catholic school - or at least high school - without being charged "out of district" tuition for going beyond their feeder schools.

But where the parish feeder theory falls apart is that there are no geographical boundaries to any parish. A family can live in Bellevue and be a member of Mary Queen of Heaven in Erlanger and go to school there and then "feed" to St. Henry. A family can live in Alexandria and be a member of St. Anthony in Taylor Mill and "feed" Holy Cross.

 

Additionally, the parishes/grade schools that "feed" Brossart are significantly larger than those that "feed" NCC. So if that plan was ever enacted and strictly followed, it would legislate NCC out of business. And probably Holy Cross eventually as the Catholic population heads to the suburbs.

 

And if I desire a single sex school for my child I can't send them to a single sex school? If I went to a certain school, and my wife went to a certain school, and aunts, uncles, cousins all go/went to a certain school.........I can't send my child to that certain school? Last time I checked this is not Russia.

Cov Cath is playing tricks? I'm pretty confident that the Aaron Floyd transfer has to do with the fact that Aaron doesn't want to spend his senior playing on a 0-11 football team, and the fact that his brother has been an assistant coach at Cov Cath for two years. Cov Cath will undoubtedly benefit from his transfer, should the KHSAA allow it, but it's no "trick". The decision to transfer away from Boone County was Aaron Floyd's and his family's. Do you really think Cov Cath has agents out in all of the Northern Kentucky schools at random, busy talking to all the best athletes in the shadows and luring them to come play sports in Park Hills?

At the end of the day, a person is not allowed to transfer one school and go to another and continue to play the following year. Plain and simple. They are supposed to sit out a year. I get a sneaky suspicion that young Mr. Floyd will do this. It simply is not fair to the other schools.

First- apologies to the BB crowd for seemingly hijacking this thread, but as it pertains to all Catholic schools I suppose it's warranted.

 

Zero- please tell us all the specific cases where Catholic schools "got away" with transfers not sitting out. I'd bet someone can come up with just as many examples of public schools "getting away with it".

 

Heck, Floyd hasn't even played a down yet, so nothing has been finalized. If he is able, it's because the KHSAA ruled him eligible. If he doesn't, it's because they didn't- simple as that.

To that point, whether or not Brossart is a Catholic school, I completely agree with NKY Bandit's sentiment that if ANY school cancels a sport program that a student athlete had already been participating in, I think they should absolutely be ruled immediately eligible to transfer to another school and play there. If the school they opt to transfer to is public, then fine by me.

This argument has been beaten to death. Any school in KY, public, private, or independent can accept tuition students from anywhere they want. If you don't like the way your school district handles it go complain to them.

1) that they can draw from anywhere (just like almost any other public, private or independent school in Ky)
