Okay Channel 5 (specifically Sheree at the very end)...what exactly is the Sheriff's department supposed to comment on, with regards to the "new" cruiser video?!? I mean, you already admit it does NOT show anything with regards to the moment of the shooting. So, why would you even ask them to comment on it?

It's possible that she had her hand on the shifter and knocked it into reverse as she brought her hands up in a defensive posture (I assume the car was an automatic). Then, that raises the question of how fast she could have been going if she was able to put the car into reverse and the officer still maintain balance on the hood to fire off four accurate shots. And then again, one of the passengers might have tried to put the car in park to stop it after the shots were fired.

 

Like most everything else in this case, there's just enough missing information for it to become a Rorschach test for us observers.

 

I have thought about the passenger shifting it too. In my mind, and like you said it's a guess, the passenger was ducking for cover. I give it almost a 0% chance the passenger shifted gears.

My best guess is the Sheriff's Department wants this to fade away as much as possible so I wouldn't expect much from them until they present the case to the Grand Jury.

While that may be the case his report seemed to indicate she was going much faster than 1 mph with him on the hood. Tough to be accelerating pretty quickly with your hands up deflecting the first two bullets and shifting gears into reverse.

I'm not trying to get in to an argument about that. 1 second is probably enough. I am for discussion purposes asking how she got into reverse while driving forward as his statement says and protecting herself with her hands and arms from the shots. Any driving with the officer on the hood is too much and probably justifies the shooting. What though if the officer wasn't truthful on his statement? What if he jumped on the hood to stop her from getting away other than to protect himself? What is she then was shifting gears into reverse (to flee) or god forbid maybe she was shifting into park to comply and didn't quite get there b/c she quit shifting gears with her hands and went into protection mode? I'm not saying the officer is lying. I am just asking if that makes some sense all while wondering how she got into reverse?

Depends on where the wounds were located. She could have still had her hands on the wheel and accelerating, and still get hit in the arm with a bullet. If her hands were up, it would have most likely been the bottom of her forarms.

In the news story I saw (believe it was Channel 5), they talked about the number of wounds, which was more than the number of shots fired. But, the reporter said that where the wounds were, according to the coroner's report, it was likely she had her hands on the wheel, and the bullets went through her wrists as she held on to the steering wheel, and then into her torso.
