“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”

RIP Birdsfan. I'll just have to wait a little longer for that handshake. I'll be seeing you.

I haven't been able to be on BGP much because of work. I have to admit I didn't want to read BGP this week because I knew I would see this thread. I knew it would then make me realize that our Birdsfan is really gone from this earth.

I am going to post some random thoughts as I know Dave is looking down from heaven laughing at me (he had told me many times that he got a kick out of my random thoughts/posts.) So here's to you Dave/Birdsfan!

- I met Dave on here almost 10 years ago. As many of eloquently posted Dave was and still is one of a kind!!

- I met Dave couple times in the past when Rockmom and me made trips to the NKY. Dave was even more awesome in person. He was kind, caring, funny and so whitty!

- I remember early on Birdsfan and Rockmom would review some of my posts to make sure I sounded/posted like a guy. We had so many laughs from this.

- I loved Dave's ability to tell a story! He spoke in a way that you felt like you were right there with him.

- I loved giving him crap about almost running over my son with his wheelchair (scooter) at a football game.

- I loved that he appreciated my need to use the word "crap" and my obsession with tasers.

- I love that every time I see a squirrel now, I think of Dave.

- I loved his passion for life, people and trying to always be the best he could be.

Like others have stated in this thread Dave also helped me through some very rough times. Especially three years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer. He would send cards, texts and calls to show his support. He like several others of you on here were amazing. I only hope that it is known how much that was appreciated!!

I know our friend is in peace and a much better place but Dave you will be missed!! Thank you for allowing me to be your friend!!! Rest in peace!

Most importantly...I want to give many thoughts and prayers to his family and dear friends. I am so sorry for your loss!

Now that is some funny stuff. From what little I know of Dave, he probably would have told you to scratch yourself while you typed - to help you "be" the character.

Dave was such a wonderful friend to this old gal and I loved him dearly. I met him on BGP and along with Dave came RTS....gosh, how very lucky I was. Dave has been such an important part of my life and I truly do not know what I will do without him. I saw him a few weeks ago and he was again trying to keep me and RTS quite and not get thrown out of the hospital. Gosh, he was sure one of a kind. I will try to honor his life by being a better person. I will never forget you and I will always..always be grateful for God allowing me to be your friend. I was only called on the carpet once while being on BGP and it was from "BirdsFan"....he told me to stop doing this .................................................................................................................I asked why...he said, "because I don't like it". Well here you go my friend..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Never had the privilege of meeting Birdsfan but I've know him on here for a long time and we've had several conversations over the years. So Sad to hear about his passing. BGP will never be the same. RIP Birdsfan.

Rest in Peace Birdsfan! A Highlands home football game will never be the same. Prayers sent to your family. Go Birds Go!

I only knew him through BGP and I feel a definite lose. Its been a tough week with George Ewen's passing as well.

RIP Birdsfan.

God saw you getting tired

And a cure was not to be

So he put His arms around you

And whispered "Come to me."

With tearful eyes we watched you

As you slowly slipped away

And though we loved you dearly

We couldn't make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating

Your tired hands put to rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

RIP Birdsfan.

That's beautiful, nkuclubbaseball19.

RIP - Dave.......I am simply, speechless. You were a great who needed to be free. You had a brilliant mind, and a keen ability to put it into words, for us to enjoy. BGP has lost a major part of it's identity, and I, for one, am glad to have gotten to know you. May God bless your family, and guide them with his kindness and healing. This world wasn't strong enough to keep you down. You are free to RUN.........

Prayers and Angels

Well this absolutely sucks!!! With my busy schedule the past couple of days I feel so bad just now finding out this sad news. Had the pleasure of meeting Dave on several occasions and his upbeat attitude and humor was inspiring. Many of us complain about our situation and never had it anywhere close to what Dave went through, we have much to learn from this. Dave will be truly missed not only on BGP, but at Highlands football games.

Hopefully he takes with him his binder of Highlands football stats on his journey to the "pearly gates", a good stats man never leaves without them. :thumb:

My prayers to Dave's family.

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

So sad to hear about this. Prayers are with you and your family!

I had the pleasure of hanging with birdsfan on a few occasions and am glad I got to know him even if it was just for a few brief moments. We've lost a wonderful person in every sense of the word. I would bet GOD has already promoted him to the ranks of Heaven's Moderator.

Gonna miss him fixing up awesome titles for our BGP Late Niters thread.

RIP Birdsfan

Haven't really been on the site since Thursday, so I'm just now seeing this. Birdsfan basically was BGP to me and I certainly won't forget him and some of his antics around here.

I hate hearing this but now he's looking down on all of us. RIP BF!
