End of an era in both Highlands and Kentucky football.

 

With respect to the above I have no inside insight but I expect that it is no coincidence that Coach Weinrich has been listed as Co-head coach the past few years. Following a coaching legend in any sport is an unenviable task to say the least (and even more so when following the kind of person Coach Mueller is) but it appears to me that Coach Mueller has been trying to prepare Coach Weinrich to succeed him in that role in many ways for a number of years and I think that Coach Weinrich is well prepared and the right guy to step into that role (and would note that he is 1-0 with a state championship under his belt already from last year's championship game). I further expect that you will see Coach Mueller make great efforts to support the successor coach (whoever it is) in every way possible (including staying out of the picture where helpful to let the new coach make the job their own).

I doubt it. That is a program. It will survive.

If Mueller really is gone then "WOW"... for my money the best Overall Coach in the State has retired...what a legend

I didn't know he was retiring but said on the Collins thread some bizarre things were going on at Highlands this week.

Congrats to Dale his 12 state championships speak for themselves. Period !!!

I kind of had a sense that this was going to happen. The annual Varsity Head Coach talk after the FTJFL All Star game was performed by Asst Head Coach Brian Weinrich while Dale stood close by. I guess that should of been the writing on the wall.

 

I came home that night and told my wife that the 8th grade boys were Brian's boys.

 

Dale will be remembered 1st as a great teacher of young men. Thanks forever you have done for all these young men over the years.

Hate so see him go but have been wondering how long he would continue. Statue on order?

No because the 20 years outweighs those 3 days......Wouldn't you love to have that problem?

Congrats to one of the all time greatest. Coach Mueller leaves behind a tremendous legacy.

 

I hope he enjoys his retirement to the fullest. I'd like to go bluegill fishing with him some time.

 

Dale is an incredibly complex man. There was part of me that thought he would never quit coaching because he could never fill the void of what he was so passionate about. Then several years ago he took his entire family on a mission trip to South Africa through our church and I thought mission work might be totally what will fill that void in Dale's life once football ends. It will be intersting to see who benefits next from Dale's incredible energy and passion.

Great teacher, period. Daughter loved his AP Physics class and she hated football.

Man, this years Banquet will be something else. May need a larger venue and possibly 3 days to have it.

Man I don't pay attention to most of your post but you are a piece of work. What a joke. On a good note Dale you are one of the best and it showed. Congrats on your achievements.
