Michigan State 78 Kentucky 74

I know one thing I've never been this anxious/nervous/excited over a game in November.

If you think about it though some of these young Calipari teams have been pulling out tight ones over Miami (oh) and teams like that, so almost stealing one over Sparty makes me feel good about their chances in a couple of months.

Interesting. I wasn't nervous at all because this game is all about getting better. Of course you want to win, but I was much more interested in seeing how the players and team handled matchups and situations. The thing that really struck me tonight was the sheer size of UK. They are so big that is going to be a problem for other teams all year long.

Randle though.... His post presence will be unmatched in every game.

Did MSU come out of the locker room after half time? The 'difference' was that MSU shot bricks and played lazy most of the way through the second half. Kentucky did good take advantage of MSU's poor play. But MSU was not playing #2 or #1 ball most of the second half.

UK at this point wasn't able to guard another good team for extended possessions.

Worst thing that could have happened may have been for them to won this game in the last seconds...they need to know that they can't just turn it on when they want and get the win.

I'd like to add one more thing: Saw some flashes from Poythress tonight where I was like wow. I look for him to be a contributor down the stretch of the season. He should get more looks as it is almost certain Randle will get doubled every night.

On Poythress, it wasn't so much the actual play from him, which was very good. I thought the most impressive thing about his game tonight was he showed a lot of poise and leadership on the court. He helped the team stay focused and under control, especially running the offense.

I would rebut by saying, did UK come out to start the game?

I felt the same way.

I agree on that as well. #30 is no doubt our best player, but I think Alex will be a vital piece to the team down the stretch.

There was a hustle play by him in the second half where I think he pretty much asked everyone else if they cared. He then went to the free throw line and made both and the Cats responded down the stretch following that possession.

WCS struggled tonight which was strange, just never really got things going.

Major concern I have is Cauley-Stein. He CANNOT continue to disappear in games like this. I know he is not a banger in the post, but his presence needs to be felt other wise he is just taking up space and I know Dakari will be chomping at the bit. WCS doesn't box out, and isn't physical enough. I hope he can figure it out.

@KySportsRadio: Outside UK locker room Digger Phelps stops Randle and screams "hey Strickland, u gonna teach these guys free throws." Randle NOT amused

I won't be surprised to see Dakari starting over Wille by the end of the year. The kid is a beast down low

@KySportsRadio: I honestly thought Julius Randle was going to punch Digger Phelps...
