That's pretty much what BG would have had to do to keep people from complaining. Hike the ball and fall down for 4 plays and then turn it over on downs.

I know this much, some where you have to teach your players to stop the run, especially if you are playing against 2's and 3's. I mean those kids practice everyday and when they are in deserve and should be expected to play as hard as the ones do. I do not know the details of this game with BG but Logan County has to take the opportunity to compete against the younger squads for BG. Yes BG is the #1 team in the state and should be able to score 63 points in the 1st half against a team giving up 50 + points per game, but it is not BG's problem when their 2's and 3's are scoring at will. That is Logan County's issue and they need to try and compete as best they can against the younger squads period.

I think so too but it seems like people think that is what hey should have done.

I remember back during Male's heyday they were regularly accused of running the score up. Finally in a game against Atherton for several series in the 2nd half Male punted on first down. Redman (who I'm no fan of in any way) took heat for that. When you play a badly outmatched opponent you're almost in a no win situation. Score too few points and people question how good you really are. Score too many points and you're a heartless jerk. Do something to intentionally keep from scoring and you're trying to embarrass your opponent.

Run it between the tackles.. if they can't stop that..reduce it down to straight dives. A FB dive is a valuable friend to keeping a running clock game respectable.

Then the other team should just quit if it comes to that.

To answer the question, yes. Especially if it is against North Hardin or Central Hardin.

If my 3rd string is good enough to score and score often on your 1st string, that is YOUR problem. Not mine. As PP said in the other thread, freshmen want to score too.

I was at that game. PC needed every one of those points with the way Alfonso Smith was running wild.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that if it is special teams and defense then there is not much you can do.

 

I have seen teams down 48-0 in the second quarter by virtue of the opening kickoff returned for a TD and 2 punts returned for a TD and an INT returned for a TD and a fumble on their own 10. That's 5 TDs that the offense had to go 10 yards total.

 

And the team down 48-0 is still throwing the ball all over the place.............which is fine hey try to score but then don't complain when the score balloons to 64-0 at the half.

Ironic it happens the night after the BG defeat. I didn't watch the game or anything, so I'm curious about these TO's that were called at the end of the 1st half? Anyone wanna provide some insight? Also, in the second half what was the play calling like? I mean, they put up more points in the 2nd half (35), then BG did last night (28). I guess there are cases of a team just being that bad, but based on everybody raving about Hoge, it makes it somewhat intriguing.

Personally I don't see a problem. If a team is that bad then they are that bad. Not much you can do about it.
