This is the first one I've seen since Towles was a senior so I can't make any recent comparisons. Tonight I thought HHS was a little bit outmanned by T----in no small part due to the inherent difference between 6A and 4A, I'm sure.

What I expected here. HHS is the class of 4A but not the Commonwealth. Rocks are top dog until proven otherwise. Congrats to T on thumping the Birds. I look for both teams to win their respective classes again. (Unless the Rocks have to face SK!)

 

To add on to that I had the same feeling about this scrimmage for the same reason. I would go as far as to say in all seriousness the Rocks for the past few years have been arguably the top dogs in the Midwest not just the state of KY. Highlands will be fine they didn't come out of the gates ready against Boyle last year either. Just like every year for the past decade Trinity will be really good yet again.

I gotta say, I am disappointed. I know Trinity is a machine, but I was hoping and expecting more out of the Birds.

Nice job by the Highlands Freshman. Tied at 14. Thought they held their own.

First of all, love the no huddle offense. They will just wear down any team with two way players. The over the top passing game is great. I think high school needs to adopt the pro version of pass interference. Teams like Highlands and Trinity are penalized for sure td's that turn into 15yd plays. Best upfront defense I have seen from Highlands. I have been to all the scrimmages. Tough to run on. I don't know if the lack of ground game was Trinity or Highlands just a little more average there. I would be surprised if Highlands lost to a Kentucky opponent.

I though both teams showed great class. Constantly helping each other up and patting helmets and butts. Very classy game tonight.

 

Would love to see a Highlands/Bowling Green game.

As a T fan I love the atmosphere that the HHS folks bring. Intelligent & polite - no negative chants or cheering an opponent injury. Clean play by both sides. I cannot imagine a better final tune-up for either team. I hope that they scrimmage again next year, with each program boasting 23 state championships :ylsuper:

Highlands has a formidable O-line and overall team size. The D-line penetrated and forced the Trinity QB to roll out of the pocket. Highlands will not face a QB as mobile as Bonnafon the rest of the year. I felt HHS abandoned the running game after Trinity went up by 14. HHS had plenty of success throwing a deep ball. The Bluebirds LBs and DBs are good high school players. Trinity has some pretty good talent at the skill positions. The Bluebirds QB showed it was his first game as the starter and will do fine down the road. The Elder game is definitely winnable. I have no idea what the 2A FL team will bring to the table. It's practice. I know some of you Highlands folks hate when I'm right, but this one was a softball-like no-brainer.

 

Highlands learned they aren't as fast or as good as Trinity. Congrats. Not sure how that will make them faster or better for next week but I'm sure it will somehow. Good luck to the Bluebirds in 2013.

It's hard to say I'm surprised by the spread but it is a scrimmage. With that being said, I know HHS is very good, both history and Dale tell me that. St. X may be mentioned as the favorite but after what I saw tonight I don't think they have an offense to go toe to toe with Trinity.

If I recall properly, Highlands had only attempted two rushing attempts before T went up 14-0. To me anyway, you can't abandon something you hadn't done. I liked what I saw out of Houliston, Schweitzer and Feggins on O; and I liked what I saw out of Bardo, Hope and Cochran on D. Bardo and Houliston both have to be very sore this morning. Birds again got a lot out of the game. Learn and improve. Brooks looked nice running the ball for T; Bonnafon impressed me with his arm; Swabok is a really, really good receiver. Defensively the Rocks have some work to do covering the deep ball but I'm quite certain that will be addressed. 96, 44 and 30 on the Rocks D looked good.
