You know, the only reason people hate on Grant are because of people like you. I don't know where you are from, but it is clear you do not like the Grant District. The situation with the administration only worsens when people like you complain based on rumors more than likely. Let's see some facts before you go bashing the Braves...

Fact # 1. Teacher layoffs and cutbacks but yet the superintendent gets $34000.00 for his doctorate, while the entire athletic budget is $20000.00 for all sports.

 

Fact # 2. Teachers have been made to change grades so kids could graduate.

 

Fact # 3. Things are swept under the rug that are illegal and unethical. Bullying of kids (A kid) instegated by coaches goes unpunished. Problem students are catered to instead of disciplined.

 

So there are some facts, Grant would be a terrific job if you are a liar,a crook or a thief.

I can personally verify #2, along with a lot other dirty laundry, but I'll keep that to myself. Just know, rumors or not, until their is a cleansing of the admin at Grant from central office down to the high school it will remain one of the worst places to teach/coach in Kentucky.

I don't know that grant is much different than any other district. Schools are different than they were 20 years ago. My district is guilty of many of the things you accuse Grant of doing. Our super also had his/her doctorate paid for by the board. I am aware of several districts doing this. I don't approve but it is fairly common.

It is actually unusual for schools to give their athletic teams any money. Districts are required by law to pay salaries but after that they are not required to pay anything.

Truthfully never understood what a doctorate does for you other than you get to be called "doctor". IMO a waste of money. There is no point to have a doctorate to be a school superintendent and if a superintendent has a desire to have that the board pay for their doctorate, then they have truly lost the entire point of working in a school system. It isn't about them, it is about the kids.

I know of 3 people who have applied-Kevin Reinhardt (Former Nicholas County head coach), Chris Stapleton (Mason County Freshmen Coach) and Dustin Plunkett (Grant County JV Coach). I know there are a lot more applications, these are the people that I have confirmed with.

 

I would sure hope they could get someone better than Reinhardt. He was 16-45 in two seasons at Nicholas County and with their schedule they should have been better. Maybe there's a reason he's a "former coach". Plunkett may be a good choice because he knows the kids and it would be an easy transition. Can't see them hiring someone from the freshman level. I still think there are going to be some other names surface that will surprise some people but we will wait and see. Grant should spark some interest for some experienced coaches.

That's not to fair about Coach Reinhardt. Nicholas Co. Schedule although maybe not the toughest but for the kids he had and the crap he had to put up with from parents and administration and never got any backing on anything.. I think he did one hell of a job..you can be the greatest coach ever but without athletes and and some talent you have to work even harder at what you do and he did that this past year..he got the Bluejackets back to the Regional Tourn. For the first time in 13 yrs.. And gave Montgomery Co. Everything they wanted for a half in the Region. As far as a former coach he wasn't actually fired from coaching..I think Coach Reinhardt would be a good fit anywhere and any school would be lucky to have him...

If you had a regional contender like Grant does this year, would you hire someone with his varsity record? I sure wouldn't. Also, I think Kevin is sometimes his worst enemy. He is not the most personable guy and he rubs people the wrong way. Not a real people person but does have a pretty big ego.

What he said. Teachers are required to obtain a Master's Degree and I never heard of a school paying for that. I would be highly ticked off if my BOE agreed to pay for a super's doctorate.

Why are you bashing a young coach who was invited back to be the head coach at Nicholas but left because they cut his teaching job? I see your point about the record but sometimes you have to look at the big picture. The young mans teams improved every season that he was there, his kids graduated, and they reached a Regional for the first time in 13 years regardless of who they played they still made it. Also what coach wouldn't want to try for a job that has a chance at Region if the team stays together? The very few encounters that I have had with Mr. Reinhardt have been very cordial. I like watching him coach because he is intense and a throw back to my era of coaching. The kids love him and they play tough. I wish him the best of luck.

I wouldn't be misled by these stats. Harrison Co. played them twice a year and if you compare Reinhardt's team from his first of the year to tourney time they improved more than anyone. You have to take into consideration the community of Carlisle as well, extremly small. Programs in communities like that cannot be built it in 2 years, they have to be built from the bottom up with solid feeder programs.
