What he said. Teachers are required to obtain a Master's Degree and I never heard of a school paying for that. I would be highly ticked off if my BOE agreed to pay for a super's doctorate.

 

I agree totally. The Grant district heard a sales pitch from Northern Kentucky University and handed over $34,000.00 of tax payers money. They may say things like, it's a different poof money than teachers salary or this will help the kids. I would like to meet the person who CREATED a pot of money intended to give a Superintendent $34,000.00 to get an optional Doctorate degree. I bet the Superintendent retires from the district in 5 years and uses his tax payer paid Doctorate degree and goes to teach at a college somewhere in Kentucky. I think if you make over $100,000 a year there is no way you should be given $34,000 of tax payer dollars to go get an optional Doctorate degree. Grant County seems to be like the town in Peyton Place. Looks nice from the outside and everyone says the right things but when it comes down to doing the right thing, people ignore their civic duty.

Ask them about the ongoing OEA investigation. They've been in there all year and still aren't done. That should tell you all you need to know.

Fact # 1. Teacher layoffs and cutbacks but yet the superintendent gets $34000.00 for his doctorate, while the entire athletic budget is $20000.00 for all sports.

 

Fact # 2. Teachers have been made to change grades so kids could graduate.

 

Fact # 3. Things are swept under the rug that are illegal and unethical. Bullying of kids (A kid) instegated by coaches goes unpunished. Problem students are catered to instead of disciplined.

 

So there are some facts, Grant would be a terrific job if you are a liar,a crook or a thief.

 

 

 

The only fact anyone can draw from this post is that you clearly do not like the County...period. It's easy to bash a team when there are biased parents or ex-players on here that never got their minutes. And since when have all these "facts" been exclusive to Grant County? It goes on across the country...no doubt in my mind.

Why are you bashing a young coach who was invited back to be the head coach at Nicholas but left because they cut his teaching job? I see your point about the record but sometimes you have to look at the big picture. The young mans teams improved every season that he was there, his kids graduated, and they reached a Regional for the first time in 13 years regardless of who they played they still made it. Also what coach wouldn't want to try for a job that has a chance at Region if the team stays together? The very few encounters that I have had with Mr. Reinhardt have been very cordial. I like watching him coach because he is intense and a throw back to my era of coaching. The kids love him and they play tough. I wish him the best of luck.

 

I'm not bashing him by any means. Just stating my opinion based on his record and my personal encounters. Additionally, if he was so loved at Nicholas County, don't you think they would have found a job somewhere in the district for him? That's not a uncommon practice. It happens more than most people realize.

I know of 3 people who have applied-Kevin Reinhardt (Former Nicholas County head coach), Chris Stapleton (Mason County Freshmen Coach) and Dustin Plunkett (Grant County JV Coach). I know there are a lot more applications, these are the people that I have confirmed with.

 

I would have thought this position would have had more interest and more experienced candidates than those listed above.

There's more applicants (over 15) on the list than what's been mentioned. And from what I'm hearing, some of them are well qualified for the job. I'm not sure if Coach Plunkett has applied or not but, I think he would be an excellent hire for the program.

 

The OEA investigation was conducted and closed LAST YEAR, not this year as indicated....with no violations! 99% of the real educators understand that their primary objective is to teach our youth and prepare them for this cruel world. The other 1%, they are the ones that think they're entitled to a retirement based on coaching achievements!

 

Others have commented about the Super getting $34,000 for continuing his eduction. He just followed in the footsteps of the previous Super. There wasn't much smoke about that at the time and there wasn't any cuts that year either. Yes, the timing is bad and I don't agree with it but, if anyone's to blame, it's definetly not the folks that do the day to day operations in the system, it's the.......BOE MEMBERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, you'll never bust my bubble! If the OEA is still investigating the system, then so be it. My source indicated that he hasn't seen nor been asked any questions from the investigators this year. If they do find that "ANYBODY" is doing or has done something wrong.....somebody should be showing them the door. IMO, there should be "0" tolerance for anything that's detrimental to a school system.

 

As for the day to day operations that I refer to, they don't have :poop:to do with the Super getting approved for $34,000. It all falls on the shoulders of the Board Members that approved this and several of them approved the same thing for the previous Super.

 

If you're gonna quote somebody, make sure to use it in the right sentence :confused:

I haven't heard of him transferring as of yet.
