NKU grad who was the head coach at Ft Pierce in Florida before moving back to Seneca in Louisville last year.

Interesting to me only because that was not the name of the "suggested hire" by central office, from someone at central office.

 

I don't know the man so I can say. Kinda like the idea of going with someone with no ties what so ever.

Yes, Grammer is the coach. I think this is a good hire. He is young and energic. Did a good job in his only year at Seneca.

I wonder why he made the move back to NKY? I believe he's from here, but he's bounced around so much the last four-five years that if I were the Grant admin, I would be skeptical. Hopefully he's not at Grant for a year or two and then moves on, as he's done since he began coaching High School ball. Programs (and kids) need stability, which is why the schools with loyal coaches win more than the programs with transient coaches. Maybe my story is wrong and he was forced to leave the recent programs he's been at, but I know how he left Ryle and it was flat out wrong.

Good hire by Grant County. I saw his teams while he was the Freshmen Coach at Ryle and they played hard. I don't know what he's done since he left but I think it could be a great move by Grant County's administration. I guess we'll have to wait to hear why he left Louisville.

Can you expound on this a little? I keep hearing the administration is the problem but no one wants to elaborate. What makes them hard to work with? I have been in education for 15 years and every coach at some point feels some pressure from administration.

The administration didn't have a problem with Coach Hicks when it came to athletics. He was there every day, worked hard for his coaching staff, players, parents, and even the community....this was appreciated by all of those involved in athletics.

 

Did the administration have an issue with the ACADEMIC side of the business.....YES! There's always the underlying issues that people don't want to know, don't want to hear about, or don't want to believe because some people, well just.........."CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH"! People are always wanting to blame someone else and it usually starts with the administration. That's just the nature of the beast. I don't believe there were to many educators that resigned from this district either.

 

Folks need to remember that Coach Hicks was not asked to resign as a coach or EDUCATOR!

First of all, they couldn't fire Hicks as an Educator because they had no grounds to do so. That administration makes people's lives hell if you are not a yes man/woman. And yes a lot of great teachers are leaving but teaching jobs are hard to come by so if you have tenure you do not leave one school till you are hired by another. You sound like one of the locals who have their head in the sand and thinks the Principal is such a pretty lady and does a great job. Why don't you ask the basketball booster president, who has been around that school forever and does great work what he thinks of this administration. He has seen many administrations and thinks this by far is the worst ever during his 20+ years being around the school.
