Johnny is a good young coach. Personally, I don't think he is ready for Grant County.

Anybody heard anything about this? I heard an unsubstantiated rumor that the job was offered to South Oldham's Steve Simpson, but that he turned them down.

 

Also, with Jason Holland taking the Montgomery County job, how does the opening at Oldham County affect Grant's ability to bring someone in, or are we talking apples and oranges?

Think it will have an effect. 2 jobs in the same region. Guess it depends on what is left in the cupboard. Grant graduated just 1 senior I believe. Not sure about Oldham County.

 

On a side note, I read that Gary Forrest is coaching the Jr. KY All-stars I believe. Any chance of him taking either job??

Forrest is done. He has told me he loves the freedom to do as he pleases. People that have not coached do not understand the time commitment.

I know of 3 people who have applied-Kevin Reinhardt (Former Nicholas County head coach), Chris Stapleton (Mason County Freshmen Coach) and Dustin Plunkett (Grant County JV Coach). I know there are a lot more applications, these are the people that I have confirmed with.

Any idea of when they might start trying to fill the position? I know the last few times they went through a hiring process for other sports they really dragged their feet.

What happens at Grant Co has Zero affect on what happens at Oldham Co...now that is apples to oranges. Grant Co is not a great job right now. It is more than just players and support. With administrations that are unstable absolutely kills some jobs.

Very true as well as a school district that refused to tenure new teachers, but let them get their 4 years in, and then pink slip them for cheaper newer ones. All while those at central office expand their payroll to themselves.

How much time is a teacher supposed to give up after school is out? How much time do other professionals give up on their free time to go to their workplace and volunteer for extra duties? But that is a different topic altogether.

 

Anyway... is it more important to find someone fast or more important to take your time and find the right coach?
