Student Drinking Occurred at Home of Boone County Elementary Principal

Featured Replies

There was much concern and a conviction, but this was a discussion about alcohol and teenagers. I used this as an example of parents sometimes cavalier ideas about alcohol, whether they are present or not.

And how do we know this incident wouldn't have occurred had it just been a "sober" party?

Teenagers never get into physical altercations that might escalate out of control without being drunk.

I have no dog in this fight.

If the allegations turn out to be true, in my humble opinion...

... she gone.

No question.

And to be clear, I'm not saying she wasn't in the wrong, and shouldn't be fired, or if authorities are involved charged with something.

I'm saying it's every bit as wrong to immediately turn to violence as the solution.

If she did what is alleged, she needs to be charged, convicted and fired. It was just stupid on her part and stupidity is not an excuss. If my child was involved, I would have a long talk with him/her about the situation and express my disappointment about their lack of judgement and being irresponsible. I would then notify the authorities and have a face-to-face "come to Jesus" meeting with the lady.

:ohbrother:

My guess is she will take the route of the Ft Mitchell parent who didn't know there were a bunch of drunk kids in his back yard. Could that be true? Yes. Likely? Uh, no.

My youngest son is 13 and if he went to a party where a parent provided him with alcohol and he got drunk then I am whipping his tail. He'll never go back to that parent's house but in no way shape or form would I do anything to that parent. I probably wouldn't even call them. My kid knows better and if he wants to be dumb then he'll deal with the consequences. Unless that parent tied him to a bed, took his cellphone and stuffed a beer bong down his throat my kid is 100% responsible. Period.

13 and 14 year olds know what they are doing and how they are doing it. It would be easy to steal some beer from Dad and go to a friend's basement and down a few in an hour. At 13 or 14, a few is all that it would take. Unless she, A. bought the alcohol for their consumption, or B. saw it in their hands at her house, I'm not going to stone the woman. If she did see a drunk child, then, I believe, that she calls the other parent to tell them of her suspicions. I'm going to wait until the both sides of the story come out before passing judgment.

I'm closer to this than going Bruce Lee on the other parent. At that age, you are old enough to make your own decisions. Nobody "makes" you drink.

If you throw the beer cans in your neighbor's yard, it is like it never happened.

Pretty sure I can comment on anything I want.

"better hope they end up in jail first"....You're right, that doesn't imply violence at all.

On BGP, no question, you can comment on anything you want, and you are entitled to your opinion just the same as anyone. You have stated what you would do and how you would handle the situation, and I am not going to tell you you are wrong for it.

My objection was to your comment ridiculing Wireman and sarcastically saying his kid should be ashamed of him. That was unwarranted, IMO, and as a young non-parent it is my opinion you haven't yet earned the right to lecture him that way.

How do we the adult knew. If so she is a moron. Kids can/do lie to get out of trouble. The lesson in this is to keep a close eye on your teenagers when they have friends over.

Hopefully my membership fee allows me the right to comment on this even though I don't have a child, but I think it depends. To me, and this is just my opinion, there are a heck of a lot worse things that could happen than them give my child alcohol. I'd probably make a phone call telling them I didn't appreciate it, and I would not allow my child to go back to that house again, and that would be the end of it.

You do have freedom of speech on here, but no emotional clue about parenting. 13 and 14 year old kids should not be drinking alcohol period, and if any adult wants to provide alcohol to a 13/14 year old, they deserve a good smacking across the forehead; man or woman. Some things you just don't turn the other cheek to!

We all like to think our kids would make the appropriate decisions. 13/14/15 age area is very impressionable for you boys. Bad decisions are easily made by especially boys in the presence of other boys and an influential (possibly attractive) older women offering alcohol.
