Anything ever going to come of this?

Good question. That is why I was asking the procedure questions above about how school systems handle this type of investigation.

Anything ever going to come of this?

We can only assume the school system is investigating but as we have seen with the Boone Basketball Coach investigation, the school system investigates slower than a three-legged turtle.

Hopefully the school system hires a professional with investigative experience so that we don't end up with opinions and shortcuts from the white, ivory tower that almost certainly has to be overwhelmed.

Are you applying for the job?

Of course not, I never want any conflicts of interest.

However, a retired police officer would be an excellent choice.

I have a quick update. A deputy from the Boone County Sheriff's Department is investigating the party and the investigation includes interviews with the students involved and their parents.

Not sure how anything will come of this. The boys snuck the alcohol to the basement and drank it discretely. When Pam realized what had happended, she called all the parents of the boys involved and had them picked up in the middle of the night. Tell me a better way to handle that situation?

If the investigation confirms that's what happened I don't see anything coming from it. From the sounds of it she didn't disclose the incident to her superiors which might have been a good idea, given her position.

Does a principal have an obligation to report an incident like this?

I had not looked at this thread in a while so I went back and read through it to refresh my memory. One theme that seemed to be running through the thread is posters wondering why the incident wasn't reported when it happened. Perhaps that is what is being investigated now. Why wasn't it reported by the principal or by one of the other parents?

Since the Boone County sheriff's department is involved, the school board must feel this is a serious incident that needs to be thoroughly investigated - not just the party but why no one reported it.

At what point does her role as principal stop?

When it comes to her proximity to students, whether her school's or not, I would say never. It goes with the job.

You seem to be "in the know here."

Where did the alcohol come from? Did the boys sneak it in the house from an outside source or was it alcohol that belonged to Thamann? Additionally, did any of the parents want to report the incident at the time? Finally, did Thamann self-report to the school system?

I don't know what happened. But if all the parents involved agreed to handle it with in their own households I don't see the problem.

If all the parents involved did not agree to handle it within their own households then you do see a problem?

I would say so, but if the parent or parents didn't have a problem then but now are using it as ammo in a different case I'd think that was shady. Again I don't know what happened. But a lot of people rushed to judgement in this thread without knowing either. Two years seems like a long time to bring up and investigate something this petty unless this has been a on going problem.
