Student Drinking Occurred at Home of Boone County Elementary Principal

Featured Replies

So I'm reading through this thread and see where many people are saying that it has nothing to do with the school since it wasn't on school property or at a school function? So my question to you all is let's say a teacher is sleeping with an 18 year old senior, it's not being done on school grounds or at school functions so the school shouldn't have a say so in this matter? So if a student is popped on a random drug test at school and he only smokes the devils lettuce off school property then it shouldn't matter to the school? She may not have known there was drinking going on in her house, but as a principal and authority figure representing the school system, she has the responsibility and duty to report it to the school and the parents. I don't believe she should be fired and give up her career but it goes on her record and she would be on thin ice.

Assuming the alcohol was snuck in (she didn't provide it), assuming she didn't initially know there was drinking going on and she called the police and parents when she found out, and assuming it was not a school function, which I don't think it was...then why in the world would she have to or even think she should need to report this to the school? If she did all of the above then she did what she should have done.

But based on what we have learned in this thread, she didn't do all of the above. That's why there is an investigation.
