Student Drinking Occurred at Home of Boone County Elementary Principal

Featured Replies

It’s been reported to the Boone County Board of Education that Pam Thamann, Principal of Thornwilde Elementary, hosted a party in her home where several 13 and 14 year olds were drinking while under Mrs. Thamann’s direct supervision. Apparently parents who left their children in her care aren’t very happy.

What should happen?

Is this the same name from the basketball thread that is wanting coaching changes?

As "cool" as it might seem to be that parent...this is very illegal and the adult should spend some time in jail. Personally, if any parent ever gives my child alcohol and I find out about it, they probably better hope they end up in jail first.

Correct, furthermore a source I have inside of Boone Co Schools when asked about this replied to me "Yea, Im gonna be able to comment on this one"

My assumption from that is, if they cant comment, it must be serious.

She needs to be a mom, not a "cool parent".

Let's wait until we know all the facts before we go all macho, heh?

It is VERY easy to sneak alcohol somewhere and the parents never have a clue. Not saying that's the situation here, we don't know.

I'm sure your child would be proud to know their dad would make comments insinuating you'd resort to violence to solve problems.

It continues to amaze me how people with such poor decision making ability are selected to be in charge of our children's education.

Disclaimer!!!! I dont know this it is just an opinion

Has anything happened with the boone basketball coach thing yet? I wonder if this is of her own doing. She reports coach to board about this and that, kids or coaches or parents report this incident. Again just a thought, I have nothing to say this did happen.

What should happen? The report should be investigated and if verified, she should be fired and charged with the appropriate violations. The timing of this is real interesting given all that's going on in BC.

I agree. She may only be guilty of not being diligent enough, which is still a serious thing when in charge of teenagers. We don't know that she provided or condoned the alcohol.

Do you have kids UK-MF?

Nope, but I can 100% guarantee you I wouldn't threaten to beat up a woman if they gave my future child an alcoholic beverage.

You also haven't yet earned the right to lecture a parent about an off-the-cuff comment concerning protecting their children. Until you walk in those shoes, you have no clue.

Besides, you made an inferrence there, he didn't actually threaten violence. If faced with the situation, I have confidence in Wireman that he wouldn't physically attack a woman.

Pretty sure I can comment on anything I want.

"better hope they end up in jail first"....You're right, that doesn't imply violence at all.

Got to side with 2C and Wireman, if some one did something that harmed or could have harmed my child intentionally (giving alcohol to 13-14 yo in this case) I would probably want to go all medieval on them as well. I think most parents would walk through hells fire to get at someone or something that harmed their child.

Nothing against what your saying Mustang, but until you have children you just won't understand.
