We had to review this thread because Pam Thamann hired an attorney and threatened BluegrassPreps.com with legal action if we refused to remove this thread. As a show of good faith we removed the thread and we hired our own attorney to review any specific complaints of libel/defamation (which none were provided). We did slightly edit the title of the thread (and a couple of words in the first post of the thread), other than that every post is exactly as it appeared.

 

I have some general thoughts/information about this thread. First of all, no one associated with BluegrassPreps.com is saying anything criminal took place. Furthermore, even if something criminal did take place I doubt it could ever be prosecuted because there is a one year statute of limitations on misdemeanors and this allegedly happened two or so years ago. This thread is simply saying a complaint was made to the Boone County Board of Education that students were drinking at the home of a Boone County Principal. This could be nothing more than some minors sneaking alcohol into the house and consuming it without the adult(s) inside the house having any knowledge of the drinking. Or it could be more.

 

Any time a complaint like this is made the school system has an obligation to investigate it and with that in mind the school system needs to do a complete investigation to make sure they collect all the available facts/evidence. In short, the school system will need to interview all the people in attendance for starters.

 

I will add my opinion, in no way am I suggesting any adults supplied any minors with alcohol. However, could the minors have brought their own alcohol without the knowledge of the adults or could the minors have accessed alcohol in the house if there was any without the knowledge of the adults, sure. Frankly, I think this is something that could easily happen to many of us parents (kids sneaking/using alcohol) because we cannot stand guard 24 hours a day. Finally, I don't think the allegation is that big of a deal but then again I am not the one deciding what, if any, action should be taken.

He has been threatened with legal action more times than I have been to a buffet.

I'm curious, and maybe this is the wrong place, but when legal action is threatened is it typically against the site or attempts to glean the identity of specific posters? Guru, you must be a huge First Amendment supporter!

Yes on the 1st Amendment and in general terms our members (people in general) have a right to express their thoughts and opinions, as distasteful as that me be to some, provided they do it in a non-defamatory manner.

So the incident took place 2 years ago and was reported to the Boone County Board of Education at that time? Or has the incident only recently been reported and an investigation is currently ongoing?

 

If this took place two years ago and had been previously reported and investigated by the board what were the results of the investigation? I would assume any and all punishments would have already been handed down and she still to this point has her position in Boone County.

 

Just saying that if this had already been investigated and adjudicated two years ago the timing of bringing this back up seems suspicious and does it really help the case of the Boone Co coach in question or is it just an opportunity to take shot at the principal?

Could it possibly be that one of the attendees of this party, also has an important role at Boone Co Schools?

As you mentioned in post #81, yes, I agree with you! To hold information back for ones convenience to use at a later date is wrong. But, if the event did happen, reguardless if it's been reported or charges files, if it happened, it happened.....

I know. I agree that if it happened, punishments need to be given out, even if it was 2 or more years ago. An educator shouldn't be given a statute of limitations on this.

What is the procedure in a case like this? How do school systems handle investigating allegations of wrongdoing by administrators? Who in the school system handles the investigation? If the school system finds illegal actions took place, are they required to bring in the police?

In general terms I would think a school administration has the luxury of handling internal complaints to them in any way they see fit.

 

If an administration uncovers something illegal I would think in most cases they have a duty to report it to the police but I imagine there may be some exceptions to that duty.
