February 24, 201313 yr Well.....YES. IF he didn't want to take the shot then why wouldn't he pass it to one oof the two wide open players with time left on the clock for one of them to take a muuch higher percentage shot? It was painfully obvious that he thought he had less time than he actually did.
February 24, 201313 yr In the biggest win of the year, and at home, Wiltjer plays flat out horrible. Doesn't even score a basket, and the Cats win. Hmmmmmm...... I'm sorry but if you go an entire game without a foul you're not just playing bad defense, you're really not playing any defense at all. Hopefully Wiltjer was just sick or something.
February 24, 201313 yr It was painfully obvious that he thought he had less time than he actually did. I don't know why anyone and everyone wouldn't see that. Cal said it in the post game too, that Mays didn't know how much time was left.
February 24, 201313 yr How about the call by Coach Cal to get the ball in the hands of Cauley Stein down low at the end of regulation. Up til that point he only had 5 points and every one else on the floor for UK was well into double figures, I don't think Missouri really saw him as a primary option for a last possession shot.
February 24, 201313 yr Everyone is saying how fun of a game it was to watch, WOW my heart can not take games like this. I beleive this team is the Cardiac Kids. By the way it was a great game to watch and a tremendous win for the CAT's hope they can continue the win trip to the tourney. GO CAT'S!!!!!!!! JD
February 24, 201313 yr You guys questioning Wiltjer, it is real simple: if an opponent has size and athleticism he will struggle. Missouri has that. His greatest asset is shooting but he doesn't move well and can be guarded. Getting looks for Wiltjer requires a slashing point guard that passes well and other scorers present, all areas Kentucky struggles with. Against Mississippi State on Wednesday I would bet he has a much better game.
February 24, 201313 yr It was painfully obvious that he thought he had less time than he actually did. Agreed. You could see him apologizing to all the players during the timeout before overtime. He clearly knew time was fleeting and just got it up quick. With that said, if he had passed to Goodwin and Archie threw down one of his one-handed dunks at the buzzer, would it not have been the best ending to a game in some time?
February 24, 201313 yr Missouri like Kentucky has been a major disappointment this season, but with the Cats losing their best player recently this has to be considered a good win.:scared:
February 25, 201313 yr Pressey is a heck of a PG for Missouri. He and Oriakhi almost spoiled the evening for the Cats. Big win for UK...they looked like they were playing for each other and the fans rather than for their upcoming professional careers.

IMO he didn't trust Archie and its hard to blame him.
February 25, 201313 yr IMO he didn't trust Archie and its hard to blame him. This argument goes out the window when you see how much time was on the clock when Mays took the shot. He EASILY had time to get at least to the three point line for a much better shot attempt. The ball was already off the rim before the clock expired.
February 25, 201313 yr HUGE win for UK's resume. However, if they let the Miss St game slip away than that loss could end up hurting them more than this win. Go Cats!
February 25, 201313 yr HUGE win for UK's resume. However, if they let the Miss St game slip away than that loss could end up hurting them more than this win. Go Cats! If they lose to this Mississippi St team they don't belong in the CBI... :idunno:
February 25, 201313 yr IMO he didn't trust Archie and its hard to blame him. You think he did pass to him because he didn't trust him as opposed to just not being aware of how much time was left?
