By voting to seed the 36th District next year did Newport.....

Recommended Posts

....throw Dayton, Bellevue, and its own Girls team under the bus?

Can't blame Newport for not wanting to blind draw NCC next year in first round if they believe they will be better than Highlands, Bellevue, and Dayton.

But that probably ends the Bellevue and Dayton Boys hopes of making the Region next year drawing each other. And probably ends any hope of the Newport Girls making the Region.

Kind of harsh to the two schools that always voted along with you to not seed the district.

Or maybe Newport will continue to vote to seed in future years no matter what kind of team they have.

Thoughts?

The fact that the KHSAA gives districts the option to seed or do a blind draw is a joke.

Mandate one or the other across the board.

Of course, the only reason this is an issue is the fact that there is no classification.

Certainly, don't blame the group of smaller school who are usually less competitive for wanting a blind draw, especially if they're in a district featuring two powerhouse team. It is the only way, in most years, they have a chance to go the region.

The only consistent thing about the KHSAA over the years has been their inconsistency.

Example: Classify cross country, track and field with 3 classes, football with 6 classes and don't classify anything else.

The KHSAA needs to make it either all seed or all draw and if they choose the blind draw, then go to only one team going to the Region from each District?

Do you honestly think the 36th would have a blind draw, if only one team got to go to the Region?

Amen.

I have to believe that Kentucky is the only state where you can lose a postseason tournament contest and still advance.

Crazy.

You want the best teams in the region playing for the title, not teams that by the luck of the draw get in. If you are good enough to knock someone off in the district tourney fine, but to hope for the luck of the draw and then get "waxed" in the regional is a joke. :ohbrother:

With all due respect, Newport, Bellevue, & Dayton's girls teams have ZERO, let me repeat that, ZERO chance at winning a game in the regional in MOST years. It's just a bye for the team they would draw. Newport has had sporadic success, but it's just that sporadic.

I think some would say it took so long because it took that long for Highlands Boys program to fall to a level that Newport felt it was worth voting to seed next year because they think they can beat Highlands and do not want to chance a blind draw.

Probably started thinking about it in 2010 where if they had blind drawn NCC in the first round they would have been eliminated instead of losing in the District Final and then going on the win the Region.

Seeding is the only way to have your best teams to represent your district...it is CRAZY to have a blind draw regardless if the regional advance is one or two teams. I cannot imagine if the NCAA was a blind draw! It all needs to be seeding!

The same goes with the Regional!!!

The regional is as seeded as it could be. District winners play district losers. Without being able to play all teams during the year seeding would not be possible. Unless we bring in the BCS to handle that task for us.

Let use head to head.

CovCath beats NCC, NCC not seeded #1

Holmes beats CovCath, CovCath not seeded #1

NCC beats Holmes, Holmes not seeded #1

Cooper losses to Holmes and NCC but beats CovCath, so Cooper can't be #1

Now tell me Lb13, how in the heck do you seed this mess fairly and without bias!
