Lexington Catholic travels to Corbin to take on the Redhounds still looking for their first win. Corbin, on the other hand, has cruised to 2 - 0 with decisive wins over Pikeville and North Hardin.

The Knights have suffered two types of offensive collapse. In Week 1 they couldn't get off of 7 against Highlands in what was a defensive slugfest as the final score favored the Bluebirds 17 to 7. Week 2 saw a different story as Lexington Catholic cruised to a 21 - 0 lead in the first half against Madison Central following a Matthew Kern rushing touchdown. That would be their last scoring drive. Madison Central took it from there, scoring 35 to make it 35 to 21 when the final buzzer sounded.

This was a 30 to 10 Corbin win in Lexington last year. Now with the game being in Corbin and the Knights reeling, it is hard to think the script gets flipped this year.

Special thanks to @Cheese for the assist this week.

Awesome job Se7ens on the thread. I think this game will help improve both teams for a run in the playoffs.  Lexington Catholic is in my opinion one of the top teams to keep an eye on in Class 3A. Last season I sat at and watched the game at Lexington Catholic and really was impressed with how they limited Corbin's offense. I think the key to this game is just that to limit Corbin's offense possessions and keep it a low scoring game.  Corbin is coming off two nice wins in a row for the new Coach Salmons. He has the Hounds playing fast paced and looks to have them defensively sound early after a heavy graduation last season. Coming off an impressive scoring performance against North Hardin. After fumbling the opening kickoff and giving up a score with less than :30 seconds off the clock, Corbin goes on to score 52 points to 18 over the next 3 1/2 quarters to win 52-25. Good luck to both teams. Should be another packed house in the new stadium at Campbell Field.

Anyone else think this could be close enough for the Pick 5 contest?

Corbin will name their score Corbin is easily 3 TDs better if not more.

I think LexCath is reeling and I would not be shocked if it's a running clock.

There is an argument for Lexington Catholic to be made. They held Highlands to 17 and shut out Madison Central for a half. They have a talented defense. It just needs to be more consistent.

Offensively, they have a dynamic quarterback who is capable of controlling a sustained drive. Unfortunately, they have also suffered from some dramatic inconsistency, experiencing extended droughts in both of their first two games.

Don’t get me wrong, this is Corbin’s game to lose. But Lexington Catholic has the pieces to work with to turn this season around and it COULD start this week.

Corbin up 28-7 at half. This may very well get to a running clock.

Has Catholic fallen off that much?

I could have bought that their offense would be inconsistent but how pourous the defense has been after that first week against Highlands has been very surprising to me.

They look way down from last year, the only question about that was playing Highlands so close.
