Blackened Sea Scallops, boiled red potatoes, collard greens, Abita Amber on tap.

Simply Amazing!!

 

Scallops are my go to down there when they have them. May head down Tuesday before the Crawfish go away.

I stepped in to this new little Persian place in Covington, House of Grill, last night around 8:00 to grab a tasty falafel to go, and to check out its vibe.

 

Though it's a small place it was jamming with diners which appeared to have been by special invitation to help the friendly owner Jonathan kick things off and add a spark to its allure.

 

Judging by the nice smell of the place and the delicious look of the many plates I saw folks diving into filled with beef or chicken kebabs, rice, and salad, this guy has something going on with no dinners priced over $7.99.

 

I saw people drinking wine, but since there's no evidence of wine on the menu, it appears to be a BYOB kind of place.

 

I know that I'll be back there soon to give a full meal a go. Many businesses have in a short time failed at this location over the last 5 years, but this one appears to have staying power. I hope this proves to be the case. The owner does look like he knows what he's doing and how to run a successful business, where the writing was on the wall for past failed businesses almost immediately.

Newport Pizza last night for the Monday Dine-in special $10 any Large Pizza. We got the Zues and The Wiseguy and had plenty to take home for leftovers. The Large specialty pizzas are typically $16 so its a great value.

 

Watch your first bite though....burned the roof of my mouth I was so hungry. LOL

Always think about going there but always end up somewhere else.

 

Nothing worse than being starving with a smoking hot pie in your sight. Terrible times when you burn the roof and the stalagtites form.

Bakersfield - finally made it on Sat night after a 3+ hour wait. Everything I had was amazing. Guacamole, fish taco, chicken chorizo tostada. All that and PBR draft served in a boot. Awesome!!!

I might be heading to Clifton tonight to the Esquire. Any eats recommendations in Clifton?

It worked out pretty well overall. We got down there around 5 knowing there would be a wait. Grabbed some snacks at Kreuger's, went to 16 bit (old school NBA JAM amongst others). When we got the call, we were ready and walked back over.

My wife had the chance to experience Anchor Grill for the first time.

 

She asked how they are allowed to let people smoke in there. Doesn't Kenton County ban smoking?

Saw over the weekend that they're remodeling the old Korzenborn service station on Dixie in Ft. Mitchell and turning it into a wood fired pizza restaurant. That should turn into an interesting parking battle with the folks in the little retail strip next door.

My brother-in-law already had his bachelor party, proper, but we're going ahead and doing a second take on it to include is dad, uncles, future F.I.L. and the dads of all his buddies in the mix. Plan is to go out for dinner and then hit up some bars after dinner. The dinner crowd is going to be 14 folks, and I'm trying to figure out where to go. The groom's only request is no restaurants in OTR.
