My brother-in-law already had his bachelor party, proper, but we're going ahead and doing a second take on it to include is dad, uncles, future F.I.L. and the dads of all his buddies in the mix. Plan is to go out for dinner and then hit up some bars after dinner. The dinner crowd is going to be 14 folks, and I'm trying to figure out where to go. The groom's only request is no restaurants in OTR.

 

Suggestions? Eli's BBQ had already come to mind, but I wanted to see if anyone on here could brainstorm for me.

 

Considering it is a group of dudes and dads I immediately thought of a beefsteak but obviously I don't know of any locally. Keeping with the gluttonous theme this group sounds like more of a enjoying dinner and having a couple drinks crowd rather than the hit the town and get hammered type of bachelor party. If cost isn't a concern I would go for a good steak. Obviously any of Jeff Ruby's restaurants or Jimmy G's are fantastic choices, and while I haven't been to Boi Na Braza this sounds like a good opportunity to try it out. Of course if you think this might be an occasion where one of the guys is going to try to pick up the tab, a group meal at any of these places is probably a little much especially compared to the prior suggestion of Eli's. Another consideration is the Montgomery Inn Boathouse as you can get barbecue, have a guaranteed spot, and already be in a central location.

 

Off the top of my head I'm struggling a bit with bars, but I assume the crowd is well beyond the stage where they want to be somewhere with loud music and too many people that you can't move, so two suggestions. If the group is big on bourbon, I've been with a group of a similar size that had space sequestered at Wiseguys in MainStrasse and it worked out ok. Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar is probably too small, and I would consider calling ahead at Newberry Brothers as well. Otherwise, since Rhinegeist opened its rooftop bar there's probably more room in the main area and people request tables there all the time.

First went to Mokka in Newport. Very good. I had their sampler and their french toast is great.

 

Went to Bellevue Bistro yesterday and loved it. They have a "benedict" menu where various toppings are served over biscuits and fried eggs. I had the KY Hot Brown and it was great. My wife had a vegetable serving that was over potatoes and loved it as well.

Enjoyed lunch at Washington Square in Burlington. The place is small but a nice coat ion and the food was very good. I had the Chicken Philly, while my wife had a Buffalo chicken wrap. I will be back.

Saw over the weekend that they're remodeling the old Korzenborn service station on Dixie in Ft. Mitchell and turning it into a wood fired pizza restaurant. That should turn into an interesting parking battle with the folks in the little retail strip next door.

 

My understanding is that the new owners got the ok to build steps up to the raised parking lot behind the strip mall. Should help with parking. I am excited about it. Hope it does well!

I decided to hit up Kabobske in Florence last weekend and loved it. Went back again today for lunch. Chipotle with a Mediterranean theme. $6.95 and you will likely have some to take home. I've only had the chicken wraps but the Gyros are huge. Fresh food for the same price that you'd pay for burger and fries. Also glad to see they were very busy for the lunch rush.

To the North of HHGregg, same location the old Gold Star occupied. Wraps, Salads and Entrees all @6.95, I'd say they could easily charge $8+. Same owners as Andy's Mediterranean.

Had both Joella's and Nashville Hot over the weekend. Both were very good, Joella's was better.

No, Orange Leaf is in that spot. It's amazing how many places have called that place home. I believe it was a GD Ritzy's originally.

 

If you are traveling from the North you would turn a left onto Mall RD. On the right side you would pass the Mattress joint, then you would have a strip mall, then the entrance to HH Gregg on the right. You would pull in an take an immediate right to enter that strip mall, Kabobske is on the far south end right when you pull in the lot.
