Petrino is the right hire, character issues or not. Its the only path to this program becoming somewhat legitimate.

That is the problem with UK. Since UK has sucked so much usually in football, people are happy and think things are great when we truly are just average at best like under Brooks. Yet under Brooks when he left the program was at a point where it could have taken a step forward, however even most of the fans showed they were content with being average by agreeing with the Joker hire. Even though there was no reason to think that hire would get us even better, it would have only kept us the same or gone down hill which it did. Coaches wouldn't want to come here because of this thought process anyways, being happy with being average. They should have thrown the house at Petrino to begin this process.

Under Brooks UK got to the where we were starting to expect more than the Music City Bowl and there were threads about what UK needs to do to get better. That was a good time. Under Joker we regressed back to being a joke so yes, I'll be very happy at the next coach that can get us back to the Music City Bowl and once we get back there we can discuss what or who we need to elevate to greater heights.

You act like most of the realistic UK fans on this site didn't see the talent drop. How could you expect a team to replace Andre Woodson, Keenan Burton, Steve Johnson and Jacob Tamme. Name the last time UK has had a decent wide reciever with a decent QB to throw to him. Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke could only do so much...they were just the leftovers from the good ole days.

It would take a lot for Butch Jones to leave Cincinnati. He loves the City and what he has in the program. He would not want to be in a program where football does not dictate the university. UK will always be basketball first.

 

In addtion to that Cincy, UL, and UCONN will most likely be joing the ACC

If a hiring is made this week then it will be MacIntyre and I was told that that the boosters are saying that they are 85-90% sure it will be MacIntyre anyways
