Same ole same ole with this hire. Maybe at best getting back to where Rich Brooks got them and that is just being average and making music city bowls. Which is not something they should shoot for, it only is nice when you get there after sucking. So it would be nice at first, however UK will never be better than that, because they never try to be better than that. That shows in who they look at for coaches too.

After the last couple of years UK needs to get back to Music City Bowl level so we can once again evaluate how to take the program up another notch. Right now UK is pathetic. Need to get to mediocre and then to competitive. Starting all over.

At this point, I don't care anymore. As an FSU fan, Mark Stoops sucks. Not been pleased with an FSU defense in a decade. With Auburn, UT, Arkansas and possibly Missouri open now it is next to impossible to expect a hire that makes us all happy. MacIntyre turned San Jose Stste around? Fine. Bring him in. Can't be worse than Joker can he? I'm open.

I agree. While the Music City Bowl might have gotten old, 2-10 got old pretty quickly, too. Why not bring him in? MacIntyre seems like a good hire considering the situation and lets face it, its not like coaches are banging down the down at Commonwealth Stadium to come to Kentucky.

I think UK fans have to look at this the way The Scribe looks at things.

But when I putter off in a vehicle with 200,000-plus miles to go home and retrieve the bills from my mailbox and walk in the backdoor of my small home, I realize that all the asking in the world isn't going to get these ladies in my front door.

 

The morale? If the home run hires don't say yes when offered, then UK isn't gonna get a home run hire and you end up with Rich Brooks.

I said it on here numerous times I would want them to hire Petrino. Yes he has character issues, just like Calipari had issues with his programs getting in trouble. They passed up on Calipari when Tubby left because of those things, but finally fixed it and it has turned out great. I think you take the same chance with Petrino and see what happens. Its not like this is the first time I am unhappy with how UK and most of its fans except being average. I got torn up by the majority of the board for being unhappy with them hiring Joker because we were settling for being average with that hire. I understand now we have to try to at least get back to that average level that Rich had. However I don't think UK will ever even truly try to take that next step. They never will be a top program in the SEC but could still be better than what they were even under Brooks. With Petrino that shows that they are at least trying to truly compete in the SEC. With this coach at best I see us only getting to being average again. Which if they hire him he will have my support though, and I hope he proves me wrong.

I don't think any of you all are gonna like this but I just talked with someone who's friends with some boosters at UK and he said that it will likely be MacIntyre from San Jose State that get's the Kentucky job. He said that Butch Jones will go to Tennessee' date=' Stoops to Auburn. He also said that the Boosters are not very happy with it either. That is the problem with UK. Since UK has sucked so much usually in football, people are happy and think things are great when we truly are just average at best like under Brooks. Yet under Brooks when he left the program was at a point where it could have taken a step forward, however even most of the fans showed they were content with being average by agreeing with the Joker hire. Even though there was no reason to think that hire would get us even better, it would have only kept us the same or gone down hill which it did. Coaches wouldn't want to come here because of this thought process anyways, being happy with being average. They should have thrown the house at Petrino to begin this process.
