If he is around 4 million which some are reporting that is just crazy. The guy hasn't beaten a top 25 team in his time at UL, I don't think. If they are in the Big East next year, they won't play for a national title and pretty doubtful he will challenge for one in the ACC.

Only time will tell if he is over paid. Currently playing in the BCS is worth it. If he continues to raise the bar it's a winning situation for the cards when he does leave

Actually, West Virginia was ranked last year.

If the numbers I've seen are accurate, then considering what the ACC TV deal is worth compared to the Big East's, this raise has already been paid for.

That was 1985, Howard Schnellenberger's first year at the helm. Our only wins that year were against Western Kentucky and Central Florida.

 

I do sometimes miss that independent scheduling we had under Schnellenberger. I remember as a kid and being at home games against Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, Texas A&M, Penn State...

Nice press conference by Strong. Seemed relaxed and confident in what he wanted to say; those aren't necessarily his typical press conference qualities.

And who knows if the ACC will be anything more than a BEast 2.0 by the time they get there...

I have friends who are Louisville fans on both sides of the fence on this. Most are thrilled that he is back but there are others who aren't really sure how great he is. For much of the year, the team was underwhelming against extremely mediocre competition. Heck, they were 9-0 and not in the national championship picture whatsoever.

 

Personally, I think it is great for UL to hold on to him and will wait to see the figures before saying he is overpaid. I also think Mr. Bridgewater has more to do with the 10-2 record than Strong. Louisville was favored in all but one game (Rutgers) this year. I'd be curious to see what other teams were favored that many times.
