Whatever may have gone down, I thought this was a pretty telling sentence from Strong's statement this morning:

 

"I was always on every team's short list; Tom [Jurich] let me know from the very beginning that I was the only name on his list."

Of course it's not a "Bad" job but being highly paid doesn't automatically make you one of the best or mean you are doing a good job. So far Charlie is but the jury is still out IMO.

The question isn't what sort of performance Strong has had in his time at Louisville. The question is "Is Louisville a top job?" And the salary certainly seems commensurate with a top job. We won't know what it's done as far as enhancing the job until the next time Louisville is looking for a coach. The willingness to make this kind of investment in football demonstrates just what kind of job Tom Jurich and President Ramsey want UofL to be.

A coaches salary alone doesn't make a school a top job. See UK example. The UL job is up there but I don't think it's in the top 10.

No argument here, though I would argue that it's the biggest factor. I don't know if Louisville is a top job; it probably isn't. But it does seem to get better and better all the time.
