I've always heard that for as awesome as Wisconsin has been, their facilities are terrible and their assistant coaches don't get paid a whole lot.

Yet they get big-time players and their stadium is one of the craziest atmospheres. You can't parse here. N Texas can pay $4M a year if they have the jack. Doesn't mean they're a top program. Today he was blowing smoke. Agreed. To me it's like the Memphis job in basketball...With their FedEx connections, they can pretty much pay more for a coach than any other school. That doesn't mean Memphis is a top ten program, just that they have unlimited funds.

December 6, 201213 yr Disagree. Gruden has no reason to take a college job, and Gundy has made OK State into one of the better jobs in the country. No reason for him to leave a good thing.... What about Golden, then? Miami has not been "Miami" for 10 years now and things are going to get worse there before they get better.

They have hopped from one dying conference to another one that is showing cracks and is in the 5th best position of all the conferences. Tennessee is the one that botched this deal, they should have pitted Strong against another candidate and forced his hand. Then Strong would have had to make a move without upping his demands/money. Tennessee was never getting Gruden. Gruden already nets about 4 million from ESPN for his gig. Gundy was a long shot... In essence the Vols AD didn't play his cards right and lost Strong in my opinion, but not operating from a point of strength. I have heard that UL is roughly 250 million in the red. Any truth to this? I don't think it will be much longer until the state/city reexamines the Yum Center contract.
December 6, 201213 yr From a program standpoint is UL ahead of any of the following: ND Alabama South Carolina Georgia Florida Texas A&M LSU USC Oregon Stanford UCLA Ohio State Michigan Michigan State Wisconsin Clemson Florida State Texas TCU Oklahoma OK State Texas Tech Goes to my point earlier. Jurich was just hyping up the fan base we all know deep down there are absolutely not a top 10 program.

UL doesn't have to be a top 10 program to be a top 10 job.

Jurich was just hyping up the fan base we all know deep down there are absolutely not a top 10 program.I know that there is a group of people on here that really don't like the fact that Louisville's job.....is a very, very good job....and that the program is on a meteoric rise......I kind of relish that.

UofL is, for now, in the black, though another round of state budget cuts could change that. The $250 million number hardly even seems possible under a worst-case scenario. The university has a $730 million endowment. The city, however, is the loser on the Yum Center deal. I don't recall how much we're losing, but it's definitely about time to reexamine that one.
