If he's going to get paid what was thrown around last night then I absolutely believe it.

Jurich's press conference is pretty entertaining.

 

He says that Tennessee's administration did everything properly and he had only nice things to say. Says he wanted Charlie to talk to them, because he wants Strong here with no regrets.

 

When asked if Auburn asked for permission to talk to Strong he laughed and said no. He also said that he wouldn't put it past them to go around him, so clearly still some bad feelings over Petrino.

 

Said Arkansas never got involved, that he's tight with Long and he wouldn't have gone around him, and that Strong from the beginning said that Arkansas wasn't a job he was even interested in.

If you could get paid top-5 money to coach with top 25 expectations in the ACC? Uh, yes, I would argue that's one of the best jobs in football.

Mr. Jurich and UL may need to find another Owsley Brown Frazier. Seriously, the payout to be received from ACC membership will probably pay for any salary bump many times over.....and I don't think UL goes to the ACC without Strong having done what he did with the FB program. In a sense, Strong might be getting paid for what he has already done as opposed to what he is expected to do in the future.

Ram will say it's a job with Top 25 expectations, but give the Cards 3-4 straight seasons in the 18-25 range and most UofL fans will start demanding better results. Bottom line, top 25 isn't good enough for the kind of jack they're paying him.

The "value" is in the eye of the beholder.

Raised expectations still wouldn't be commensurate with the raised money, and I was speaking of relative terms anyway-- I didn't mean "Louisville fans would expect to be in the top 25 forever", I meant "Louisville fans are in the top-25 fan bases as far as what they expect from their program". I don't see Louisville fans expecting more from their program any time soon than those from 'Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State, Florida State, Texas, Oklahoma, or Texas A&M, and they wouldn't be more than on-par with at least a dozen other schools.

 

Louisville fans are ambitious, but they aren't unreasonable... yet.

I don't know what the criteria are for "good job" to the average American, but I'll bet that being one of the highest paid individuals in a given field is right at the top.
