October 4, 201213 yr Being a cynic and looking at the history of coach-speak I never believed that Charlie Strong would stay at UL if a big-conference offer came about especially one from Arkansas. I have to admit that I now think I was wrong. Charlie said the following to Jim Rome: “Then I look at the players I recruited here. I told them to come here for me and this university, and then all of a sudden I get a shot to go somewhere else and I walk away from them? I’m just not cut like that. The bolded is what cemented it for me. You can't run from that. He's saying he's staying. Glad to hear it because a kid I know plays for him (and likes him ) and another kid I know is being recruited by him(and likes him). Good for UL.

October 4, 201213 yr Of course many coaches say things like this (brian k for one???) but Coach Strong does seem different than many other coaches out there.

After the John L. and Petrino years, I'm not buying into anything. And heaven knows Kragthorpe was the human embodiment of saying things without doing things. The one thing that might separate this situation from most others is how long he waited for his shot at a head coaching job before Tom Jurich came calling. I'm looking forward to seeing how his tenure develops at UofL. I definitely like the guy and hope his coaching trend continues upward. In the end, if he leaves and goes to one of the traditional football powerhouses, it'll mean that he's had success in his time at UofL and I'll be at least thankful for that.

People are stupid to think a coach will come out and say he's thinking about leaving. This is why they're all considered liars. Don't blame the coaches, blame the fans.
October 4, 201213 yr Jurich says money will be no problem and he will match any offer. And he will have no problem with it. Money is not and will not be an issue when Louisville gets a coach. Unfortunately, what we can't match is everything else that comes with a job like Arkansas or Florida.

I'm inclined to agree with most of this, but Clizzy highlights a portion of Strong's quote that we don't often hear coaches say--or at least I don't remember many instances. "I'm just not cut like that." Usually it's the standard, "I love it here...I'm not going anywhere...I'm perfectly content with where I am at right now." But "I'm just not cut like that" does seem different from the standard rhetoric. As I said earlier, I am skeptical just as you are, but I acknowledge that this is a somewhat different tone.

Oh, I agree. Even if money is the same there isn't a person on the planet that could blame him for leaving for a major SEC job.
