You can't use Strong staying at UofL to say its a better job than UT. Its already been argued that he's probably more loyal to UofL than most would be because they gave him a shot that others didn't. That Loyalty means he might stay at an inferior job even if he has the chance to leave.

So, when the opinion was that any SEC could call and Strong would come running; when Charlie says he isn't cut like that and Kentucky fans roll their eyes; when Louisville fans say that he's got a special appreciation for finally being given his shot and Kentucky fans do everything but pat them on the head; when all that happens and Strong stays, NOW it's because he has a relationship with the players and is loyal to Jurich?

 

I'm sure a similar restraint would be shown if it were otherwise...

Reports out of Stillwater are that Gundy is staying at OSU. I would do the same if it were me.

I'm sure most of those claims came while UL was in the dying Big East. What coach wouldn't leave for the SEC if they were still stuck there?

 

Also, the same Louisville fans that say he's got a special appreciation for being given a shot just yesterday had him leaving and already had a replacement lined up :lol:

 

The point is, both fan bases are wrong. By no means would he leave for any job in the SEC but on the other hand you all are crazy if you think there aren't jobs out there that he wouldn't leave for.

Tennessee, given its money, tradition and spot in the SEC, is still a better job than Louisville. But I'd submit it's one of the worst jobs in the SEC. What a coach is being asked to do there is to come in and immediately be competitive with Florida, Georgia and South Carolina every year but do so without the natural football recruiting base that those states possess. The demands of the job are not commensurate with what Tennessee really has to offer.

Just saying you can't have it both ways. First he was staying because he was loyal, and now he's staying because its a better job? Just pick a side.

 

And FWIW, I agreed that Strong could very likely be more loyal than the normal coach due to waiting to get a shot.

My source says its a done deal, Strong to UT. However he also talks to people who aren't really there and thinks Elvis is still alive.
