I think if BW started and formalized their own feeder system like Cov Cath and Highlands have done, and these program decisions were made earlier, there would not be such hard feelings. Right now, the impression overwelmingly is that BW success is on the backs of kids who started in other programs.

First, why are all the hard feelings directed at BW, rather than at the program that failed to provide a reason to stay and play? Beechwood is an attractive option for so many reasons, but rather than looking at how to make "our" program better, the answer always appears to be that Beechwood is to be blamed for being so attractive.

 

Secondly, it is funny that you state the the impression overwhelmingly is that Beechwood's success has been built with kids from other programs. The statistics just don't support that notion, but why let numbers get in the way of a good emotional rant. But, unless and until the programs that keep losing all their star talent to Beechwood do something to improve their own situation, it will continue to happen.

VOR, the problems arise when these kids tell thier would be team mates and coaches that they are going to be there. They condition and practice with the team, and then all of a sudden they are gone with nothing said to the former program except a transcript request. In some cases you get a note on social media. Thats it. Totally without class or sincerity!

 

Then you review some of posts here and realize there was never any intent to attend in the former school.

Add to that his best friends are Brayden Combs and Logan and Chase Bright. and it was just too much to pass on. What erks me about all this is the fact that you admit to knowing the SK program, the coaches, their involvement or lack there of, and yet these kids still attended their freshman year at SK, and then decided its best to transfer else where (as well as others that have transferred.) You could have went from 8th grade to Beechwood just as easy. As involved as you and the other players mentioned parents were in things, you knew how things were and how they were going to be in the future.

 

Don't get me wrong, I honestly don't have an issue with the transfers, if a player/parents don't want to be at a school they shouldn't, and should be allowed to be where they fell is best for their kids.

It's ridiculous that you had to come here and make this post, but I'm glad you did, and hopefully this will all be put to rest. Ethan is a great kid, and the crap that's been said about his decision to go to Beechwood has grown tiresome. Bottom line, you did what any other parent would do, and that's what you feel is best. He's going to do well wherever he goes, and I can't wait to see him play in high school.

I sure hope this kid is a freshman if not you have in writing from the kids dad evidence of a "change in schools motivated in whole or part by a desire to participate in athletics at the new school." If he's not in high school yet or hasn't played varsity more power to them.

No danger of a third hump but the motivation was pretty clear that it was at least in part motivated by athletics at the new school which is a violation of the transfer rule and would require him to sit out a year. Glad the kid is a freshman as my understanding he is exempt from the rule.
