You decide what counts and what doesn't count. Most people could care less. If a kid is unhappy with his athletic situation and wants to transfer then he can go most anywhere he chooses. If you think the majority goes to Beechwood then maybe there is an underlying reason for it. Do you think a kid wants to improve his athletic situation by transferring to a school with a good football (sports) program with a terrible academic reputation and in a less than desirable community? Beechwood/Fort Mitchell packages all those attributes in a very positive light. So does Highlands/Fort Thomas. Smoke 'em if you got 'em, my friend.

 

Yes, I set my own rules for my own opinion. Not sure how you would have an issue with that. Lots of people like you move to Ft Mitchell when their kids are young . Good call on your part. Who determines who is being honest about their reasons for transfer and who is not? It can be debated forever with no resolution if in fact a family decides to transfer their student athlete to BW or CovCath or Highlands beacause of the opportunities the football program may present to their child in furthering the opportunity to financially secure their post secondary education, is that not the same as sending their child to one of these schools for academic reasons?

Indeed we do S79, it only seems as though some of the folks in NKY don't appreciate or encourage the freedom of choice!

I don't care for the "sit out" a year rule. But I am a fan of consistency in rule enforcement. Either get rid of the rule, or enforce it in a fair and consistent manner to all.

Pay an attorney? Physically move? Why do some have to go through much more extreme mea$ure$ for the same result?

It's rarely the kid who is unhappy, it's usually the parent/s who have a completely distorted view of their son's athletic ability and think the grass will be greener theory. That's the way it is today, I see it everyday. EVERYDAY. The big advantage that the BW's, Highlands, Cov Cath's and HC's have is that you don't have to move (unless they have played in a Varsity contest) in order to play at any of those schools. All districts are not created with equality when it comes to who can attend their schools and where you must reside to attend said school. Those schools should have their own division in the state so we can have an apples to apples state tournament. I mean, really...........shouldn't teams such as the ones mentioned along with the St. X's and Trinity's win every year? Let's stop kidding ourselves folks. It is what it is. Dale Mueller will be the first person to tell you that his school has a distinct advantage by allowing out of district kids to attend his high school. I've asked him. Should any school have a distinct advantage over another? I say NO.

3. If parents intent is to secure a scholarship so that they do not have to pay for college they're not paying attention to NKY football. How many kids in the last 10 years have had their college education completely covered?

Wearing school colors or a jersey to a football game is expected. not vilified. Its called school spirit and pride, and it sticks with you your entire life.

I think we have established in another thread that D1 scholarship oppertunities are made at Camps and Combines more so than game performances or program attended. IMO, this really defeats the athletic transfer argement, unless there is no oppertunity to play at a particular program. It really just makes the decision all about winning high school games.

 

The academic argument really becomes shallow when the high school aged kid is moved, but the younger siblings remain in the district that is berated!

Boone County Schools

 

Barring special circumstances a kid in Cooper's district cannot go to Conner or Ryle. It actually benefits a school like Cooper who a few years ago was trying to get the program off the ground. It would have been easy for parents in Cooper's district to send their child to Conner or Ryle since those programs were established.
