Top Cheating College Coaches

Featured Replies

I think the percentage of the polling is the more interesting fact than Cal edging out Drew for #1. The two of them together accounted for 70% of the responses. That's pretty strong. I mean, Calhoun only got top billing on 7% of the responses.

36% of coaches calling Cal the biggest cheater in college basketball suggests that he's #2 or #3 in a lot of other minds. He's likely considered a cheater by a pretty solid majority. UK fans can chalk it up to blinding jealousy, but as has been pointed out, guys like Krzyzewski, Roy Williams and Izzo aren't being called out by their peers.

Your 2nd paragraph makes it interesting. It goes to show that facts vs. opinion: Opinion always wins. Roy was caught cheating at KU once and his current program has some scandals concerning the academic dept that the football team was entangled within. Coach K has the whole Piggie situation. Cal has his moments at UMass and Memphis.

Coach K and Williams are not being called out by their peers because of the programs they are at, and knowing those programs help sell themselves. While coach Cal has taken UMass and Memphis two schools who won't automatically sell themselves and make them winners. If coach Cal only has had success while at UK, I doubt people would be mentioning Coach Cal as one of the top cheaters.

If you change the question and ask what coaches do you think have cheated the most the last 3 years, I doubt Coach Cal would be as high up there anymore.

Absolutely. And people believe that Coach K knew all about Piggie but also believe Cal knew nothing about Camby and Rose.

Gun to my head, I'm saying K knew about Piggie & Cal knew about Camby & Rose.

Same here.

But what if it's someone from BGP holding the gun, you may want to roll the dice and just go against Coach K....

And if that's laughable, so is the opposite, which is the group the vast majority falls into.

Okay.

They all cheat, 100% of them not 99.9% but 100%. First of all, the NCAA has so many obscure rules that even the coaches who don't want to cheat can't help but cheat. Secondly, all high school coaches cheat, and if the desire to win on the high school level is that strong can you imagine how strong that desire is when millions of dollars are at stake?

And if that's laughable, so is the opposite, which is the group the vast majority falls into.

Okay.

I think Mobaar makes a legitimate point.

What is it? I'm lost.

CBS Sports did a survey of D1 coaches as to who they think are the top cheaters.

Cal came in at #1.

Scott Drew came in at #2.

I think Calhoun was on the list as was Tom Crean and a few others.

Do people think Scott Drew cheats?

Poll is a joke....CBS should have to list the coaches who voted and who they voted for....reminds me of the Topix cowards who post junk about people in their community and not have to post a name.....ridiculous poll with lots of jealous voters!!!!

Yeah, because the coaches have no idea who cheats, who has cheated and who the best is at cheating.

Do you disagree with the poll as a whole, or just certain parts of it?

Just the parts that say Calipari is the #1 cheater.
