July 24, 201214 yr Author Large-scale boycotts/bans almost always end up that way. Take, for instance, the curious case of the 2 Live Crew's "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" album. Upon its release in the late-80s, the album had one minor hit, and languished around a couple hundred thousand units sold, fitting of an album that was OK, nothing special. Then, upon prodding and whining by some American Family Association idiot, then-Florida Gov. Bob Martinez banned the album in the group's home state, subsequently turning a mediocre piece of crap into a highly-controversial curiosity that went on to sell more than 2 million copies and make a clown like Luther Campbell a ton of money. Needless to say, Luther doesn't mind the self-righteous outrage against him, given the positive impact on his bank account. True story. And no I never bought that album. Because my dad wouldn't let me.

July 25, 201214 yr This is one more example of the beauty of our country. The owner gets to choose how he runs his business and , as a citizen, gets to state his beliefs. I, as a citizen, also get to express my beliefs. I can boycott if I choose to. I can disagree (I do) yet still respect his beliefs and frequent his establishment. Or I can boycott with my wallet and he has to live with my decision and others. Beautiful country.
