I will attend a non-denominational church from time to time because I really enjoy the worship. I randomly frequent two different ones and I enjoy them much more than the Baptist and Methodist churches I used attend in high school. I don't feel like there is much of an agenda. Either way, I have a mistrust in the idea of "church" and I feel a lot, especially in my generation, feel the same.

While I agree with most of your previous post, the majority of Catholics aren't guilty of the behavior you spoke of. I realize you know that, just felt it needed to be said.

I gave several verses with the word "Married " that was used in scripture, you referred to one, I asked about the others and waited for a reply on my other verses. But thats OK the verses are there and we can move on if you chose to.

They're supporting denying a group of people equal rights based solely on the idea that they're different than you or I....To me that's discrimination and bigotry. :idunno:

 

I STRONGLY disagree with giving the members of the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMbLA) North American Man/Boy Love Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the equal rights they seek. Does that make me and those who agree with me discriminatory hating bigots? Or is it OK to disagree (discriminate) against a group whose views are opposed by the majority of the population rather than approx half the population as in the gay marriage issue?

 

I am sure many on here with bash me and this post saying that comparing sex with minors to sex with the similar gender is outlandish but just look at it from where I am trying to go. Because I disagree with the members of NAMbLA, does it mean I hate them or I am a bigot??? No, not in my opinion. Does that mean Larry or others who oppose gay marriage hate gays or are bigots? Again, no, not in my opinion. They simply see gay marriage going against their faiths, nature or whatever else it is about gay marriage that makes them oppose it. I think many groups who want rights like to use the work "hate" or "bigot" because of the fiery emotions those words can create in hope to build support for their side.

Obviously, he was trying to say once it's no longer man and woman then all bets are off. I find that logic lacking in thought.

 

Who ever the guy was that was leading that sect of fundamentalist mormons who chastise the modern mormon view which is against polygamy who was arrested for forcing young girls to marry adult men (forget his name) more than once mentioned that the benefit of gay marriage becoming more acceptable was that eventually views on marriage as a whole will begin to open up and plural marriage will gain more acceptance and they could come out of hiding. There is growth in the swinging culture of having live in boyfriends and/or girlfriends with the legally married swinging couple. The members of these relationships do not distinguish between those that are legally married and those that are not. With this group begin to demand equal marriage rights? I have no idea but the belief that opening marriage up to same sex couples could lead to further changes in marriage is not outlandish. My assumption that he was using dogs and ice cream was more for humor than serious examples.

Wonder how his preacher feels, I mean Rev. Wright preaches hate, does he love sin or go by the bible and see it as an abomination. Was Pres. Obama also just so happen missed that day on homosexuality in the sermon.

IMO he isn't a Muslim, only influenced by them at young age, but influenced by money for sure. There are false teachers and preachers who try to sugar coat the truth. In this case Obama is doing that. He is a false Christian IMO, anyone who condones homosexuality and abortion, and makes a happy holiday Christmas card isn't a true believer because he is denying Gods word and God by giving in to the non believers.

Because I believe differently than you does not make me a false Christian, nor does it make Obama one. Some Christians are teetotalers and others are not. Are one of those groups false Christians? Some believe the bread and wine actually become blood and flesh, others do not - are one of those groups false Christians. Many churches have women deacons, others do not are one of those groups false Christians. I can go on and on with the list.

 

Christianity is about your relationship to Jesus Christ and as a result your relationship to fellow humans. It is not about a belief in some dogmatic rules and regulations. Jesus wore the Church leaders out during his day because of their "belief system". Matthew 25 tells folks who will be in heaven and it does not say one word about believing the Bible to be literal or any other belief system.
