I was shocked yesterday when they said they wouldn't vote for Obama in Nov.

I am well, but I am sure even open ones would ignore these threads after seeing the hate by many.

 

Not wanting to legalize gay marriage is hate? Again, my opinion is the term hate is thrown around waaaaay to easily these days.

These people who want to just argue with me or put me in a bad light I pray for them and care for them, they are really good people who love the site, and who knows they might read a verse that someone puts on here and they could have a life changing moment. I want to go to Heaven and take as many folks as I can.But I/or cannot anyone can Save them, Its simply Jesus and a relationship that they have to ask for.

Not saying you, not saying anyone in particular. Actually I don't remember what you even said about the issue. I said the hate bu "many", not all.

Yes! And it surprised me. They do disagree with the Democratic party on abortion but the combo was a deal breaker.

 

I have said before if I ran for office and had a R behind my name than the D I do, I wouldn't expect their vote.

 

They go in the booth and pull straight ticket level.

 

They both come from families that were involved with "registering" Democrats to vote in 50's and 60's with money wrapped around a half pint of whiskey or so stories I was told go.

All Tell, you do bring up a good point. I, too, think that the important word is "adult" and not "two."

 

I'm not sure that I'd be opposed to plural marriage (for others, not me!) if marriage becomes a purely religious institution and for government purposes we moved to granting civil unions.

 

 

I agree with you TB(&G). From what I've heard, the justification for permitting gays to be married is: why should we stop 2 adults who love one another from being married? Obviously there has been some mention of the "2" but the emphasis has been on why stop loving adults from getting married? If allowing loving adults to get married is the justification, why should it stop at 2? Heck, if a women wants to marry 3 husbands because she loves them all and believes they will become a loving, caring family, how does one supporting the marriage of 2 loving gays but not support loving polygamists from being married? By arbitrarily hanging on the number 2? That's illogical to me.

 

Don't worry Henry. I'm not interested in a second wife. Having one wife tell me to pick up my socks (and other assorted garments) off the floor and put them in the dirty clothes hamper and to wash off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher is enough for me.

There is the problem with this whole issue. You open the flood gates and every sexual desire no matter how destructive is given legitimacy. Where do you stop? When does the next sexual desire say I am being discriminated against? Homosexuality is nothing more than the quenching of a sexual desire or preference. There has to come a point where society says this is the limit whether it be religious beliefs or good old common sense we must have rules. Is it wrong to be a homosexual? It is for me due to religious beliefs. Does your desire affect me? Not at this point. Then you do what you feel is right, Government does not need to make it alright if you feel you are doing nothing wrong. We as Americans cannot keep giving legitimacy to every group who cries foul. When does it stop?

It isn't about "legitimacy," it is about equality. I don't want the Catholic church to be ok w/ it. I don't personally agree with it. However, you can't take away a fundamental right b/c you don't agree w/ a person's sexual preference.
